I am not sure what your problem is but, you might try what I did. I
have the pals grounded together with one piece of wire that then runs down
to the large ground plane beside the expansion connector beside the 68000
socket. I also have this wire run over to the ground hole beside the ANAKIN
marking on the Lucas board ( as documented in the stuff from Brad Fowles).
I have a jumper wire from the left front of Frances board down to the
motherboard ground plane as well.
I have done the Pixar Hack to the Lucas board to fix a intermittant
startup problem. and I have done the CAS hack to the Frances board.
I am using a modeload parameter of 36C4E4 because I am running at 14.1
MHZ because I was using a 12 mhz 68881 and it would get flakey at anything
higher.
I ran with two meg of 32 bit ram with out a hitch for about 8 months
but I recently added 2 more meg and now I am having trouble with Digipaint
bombing most of the time. Every other program seems to be ok . I have run
all sorts of stuff that are quite Ram/Cpu intensive (TurboSilver, Sculpt 4D
etc) and they work fine just Digipaint3 dies ????.

Where did yoiu get the 74F21 for the CAS hack? Did it seem to make a
difference? I'm running at 16 MHZ (w/16 meg parts). Maybe I should try a
slightly slower speed. I've already grounded everything as you describe it.

Hi Phil
When I built the Frances board I put the CAS hack in so I dont know
whether it would run properly without or not. I got the 74F21 at a local
supplier (Active Electronics which is a chain here in Canada subsidiary of
Future electronics) most normal parts vendors should have it. If your Lucas
was stable before you added Frances, I would'nt change the clock speed
because it's too much of a hassle finding a new 7474 that will work. Are
you using any other addon cards, expanders. I was using a Phoenix expansion
box and a 2058 ram board and I also use the RSI Wedge Hard drive
controller.
What exactly are the problems you are having. ????
Meanwhile I am still trying to figure out why DigiPaint3 doesnt work
in my 32 bit ram all my other stuff works fine. It's very weird I even have
Sculpt 4d and Whap running at the same time with numerous programs in the
background with no hickups but anytime I run DigiPaint3 it usually blows up
fairly soon after loading. no Guru's just crap on the screen with a system
lockup.
Dont try using any of the Fancier features of the AFM program until
you get Frances debugged. Just use the modeload etc then use ADDRAM to
test.
