Help Unclip Bob
Message #261
I am having some trouble figuring this out: I'm trying to move some Bobs around in a display, using Intuition windows and screens in 320x200x3 mode. I have one window linked to a superbitmap 600x200x3 which I would like to scroll around in. I load the BitMap from a raw…
#CanDo/SerialManager
Message #260
I have no idea if this message is in the right forum. Has anyone tried to use the SerialManager (version 1.1) that comes with CanDo? I canNOT get the sucker to work. The manager runs, the ports are set up, and my goddamn program HANGS every time I send the…
Cameron, Unfortunately….it's difficult for anyone to say for sure that any combination of add-ons will work on any particular A1000. The A1000 was designed to work with one, and only one, add-on device. That add-on can be a board, or a box (which itself contains one or more boards). Certainly,…
#Update Kickstart
Message #258
My local dealer called today and said CBM just sent him a newer version kickstart for the 3000 and OS 2.0. I hope to pick it up tommorow. It is suppose to fix a memory bug problem and a few others. Thanks! Jamie
George, Unfortunately, I need my BridgeBoard often enough, that I haven't tried the 'cut the pads' option…since it works ok for me as is. I do seem to recall others have said they tried the pads, and it worked…but my recollection could be wrong…so be careful. Don
Jack, Great! Glad to have been of assistance. Don
Roy…and others I have used FF in Ibm forums and it really is a powerful tool for us CIS addicts. Michael
Brian, all of the communications software has been moved to AmigaUser, Library 5. Betty

#1000 HardDrives + Memory
Message #251
I wonder if any of you might be able to help me with my dilemma… I am a new user to CI$ and am not certain if this is the correct forum to be addressing (or if I am following the correct protocol) so please bear with me (and possibly…
Don, Thanks for the info. I have noticed that you are considered as the Bridgeboard expert! Suggestion 1 doesn't seem to work. Suggestion 2 sounds good if I follow suggestion 3!!! I was hoping that some kind fatherly individual would have discovered the correct method by now and saved me…
Quite right. Using Arexx from AV opens up some interesting possibilities. For example, I have used AV, via Arexx, to control DigiView 4.0. AmigaVision controls a laserdisk player, sets up the first frame I want and then sends a command to DigiView to digitize teh image. Then I sent (again…
coming along fairly nicely Betty. But it still has a lot of pages left to go before it's done. I should be able to mke my Oct 31 deadline…if all goes well. -Lou
Well, I don't know about random, but if you had say five files you wnated to run on a rotating basis, you could have a set of maybe six script files that: sound file.1 copy file.6 file.1 etc. so that they leapfrogged, and file.1 was always a different file next…
Thol: Given enough ram (especially chip ram), I don't see where there would be a problem. Just kick off the CanDO application from a cli command, and then control it with AREXX. (Or, for that matter, use AREXX to kick it off.) ?|^] Ray Lewis
Jack – Check your "&" settings carefully. There's one that tells it to either lock the baud rate to what you set it at (probably 19200 for calling HST BBSes), or to change on connect to whatever the baud rate on the other end is. If the baud rates don't…

DON… It worked! Thanks a lot for your help!! Jack–
Great! What a simple Solution!!! I sure hope it works!! I dial CIS with my Gs at 8N1 so I thought the amiga would work at that… Will give it a shot…Thanks for the help. Jack

#Full Motion Video
Message #238
I am looking for a device which would allow the display of a full color NTSC video source in a window on the Amiga screen. There are several such devices available for the Mac and PC but I have yet to find one for the Amiga. Can anyone steer me…

Ray, I have not seen any cross compilers available anywhere, commercial or PD. There are a few cross assemblers (I uploaded a set for 68xx, 8080/85, Z80 a while ago) around. What I was referring to is the lack of a professional quality cross compiler. I need to cross compile…
Try writing an ARexx script using a random number generator. — Ethan
Sure. CanDo has the ability to create programs that will respond to ARexx messages so they can both be active and communicate via arexx. — Ethan
Ray, don't your fingers get tired? %^) — Ethan
George… I forgot I had already dealt with this in CROSSINGS … Apparently the floppy drive controller chip in the 2088 board also controls some communications functions, so you can't disable it completely. You would have to figure out which lines are involved and cut them. There isn't much in…
Nick; Since you know where the jumper is located and how to check it……. The power supply tick signal is a little touchier than the vertical retrace signal…. so, you might want to swap the jumper and see if the clock works. My ami 2000 has been running on the…
There is a queue. We deal mostly direct, so a Dealer calls and gets placed on the end of the queue. There will probably never be mass disrribution as the profit margin is comparatively low. Most of those who have theirs, called Expert Services direct adn placed an order over…

Michael, 'data cache' enables the caching of data in the internal data cache of the 68030. 'inst cache' enables the caching of instructions in the 68030's internal instruction cache. 'burst' enables the loading of consecutive bytes of memory with a special sequence of memory control line. You might try it…
Betty, Thanks, I haven't been on much this past week so didn't know aboutthe changes. Thanks again. …Dave

BBS file
Message #225
Anyone- I was intruiged by the BBS file in the amigatech forum, the one that appeared in CompuServe's magazine, I can't remember the name. And I was wondering if you could point me to it, I can't seem to find it with the forums having been reconstructed. I know it's…
That's a real fair analysis, John. We implemented BrushAnims in CanDo, rather than full-screen anims, because we only had time to do one for the intial releases of the product, and BrushAnims made more sense because they could be made PART of a larger interface, which seems to fit well…
The Art Department with optional PCX loader module will do the trick.
If youhave CanDo, you could make a small Deck that reads the sounds directory into a document, chose a random line, and then play that file. If you want, I'll write one for you that you can use with DeckBrowser, if you don't have CanDo.
Hi, Michel., Welcome to CompuServe, and to AmigaForum. We have just had a huge moving operation, and everything is in a new place, as of Tuesday. You will find Whap19.lzh in AmigaUser Forum, Library 5. You'll love it! Great program. Betty
Michael, Sorry…can't help you on that question…I'm not up on 68030 architecture. Hopefully, someone who knows what's going on can answer. Don
Jack, Try it at 7 E 1, that should work. Don
George, I've heard, but haven't tried this: The fix is simple, remove the drive cable from the BB and your own floppy controller should "take over". Again…that has NOT been tried by me. Presuming it doesn't work I have also heard, but not tried: To the left of the FDC…
WHP19B.LZH is in Lib 5 of AmigaUser Forum (GO AMIGAUSER).
Thanks, Paul – sorry about the mixup. I do know better – just didn't say it right. Faster fingers than brain, I guess. Glad you set it straight. .Betty
Roy, I don't know – never used the FF. I do plan to play with the one over on IBMFORUM in the next few days, to see how it goes! .Betty
Hard drive woes…
Message #213
Hi Don! A week or so ago, I asked you for some help with my hard drive crash. Well, I isolated the problem: it seems that if I have the SetCPU command to SetCPU data cache burst inst cache burst my hard drive locks up when I am copying files…
#Help to find Whap19.lzh
Message #212
Hello I am new to compuserve , when i was reading the magazine it says to come to this section to find "whap19.lzh" and for some reason i can not locate it. Can anyone help??
thanks for the help, Kalid. Guess a trip to the nearest dealer is in my immediate future! Nick Moore
Thanks, Don, for the information on the demise of my A2000's 8520. Haven't noticed any problems with the parallel port or internal floppy yet. Its interesting you should mention jumper J300. When I first swapped motherboards I found I couldn't keep my Supergen online on my system because it would…
Peter, if you have access to an Amiga I'd really recommend getting it and learning by doing, cause it's not going to be the easiest to explain. However I'll do the best I can. It is an authoring system aimed directly at multimedia applications (such as kiosks). However, instead of…
We will appreciate all the examples you can spare, Lou – and I'm looking forward to that book! How is it coming? .Betty
#Modem wont connect CIS
Message #205
Hello, I just recently bought a HST USRopotics 14.4k modem for my amiga 500. I have been able to connect with BBS all over, but unable to connect with CompuServe. I have the modem calling at 2400 baud 8N1 and even tried 1200 baud at a 2400 baud number. When…
