Trent… Could be…I really haven't investigated except to call GVP to see how much an upgrade to the newest version would be. I was discouraged when I learned it would be about what I paid for my entire system (used). :^( ..Carl
Bob… Interesting. Is there a spare connecter on the IDE or do you lose the use of the IDE drive? By slow how slow do you mean? I would give up some speed for connectivity. ..Carl
MacIIfx memory in A4000?
Message #151520
Is it possible to use MacIIfx 4meg simms in an A4000? A Mac person told me that they were special simms, only for use in an FX. JMC
->To get Super 72 I THINK you need the updated chip set (2meg Agnus, new Paula). Do you have these? I have the ESC chip set and a MegAChip 2000 for 2 meg of chip memory running off ADOS 2.1. (I've pretty much upgraded the machine as much as I…
"why didn't they build it into the adapter????" So they could sell an extra 'hum-bucker' to you and make some extra dough, of course! Maybe it was an 'executive' decision by that PCjr weenie that was supposed to be in charge at the time. (One less resistor….saves money ya' know.…
Dean, Thanks…I appreciate it. Don
Don, I'll start the mouse surgery tonight. 🙂 Thanks for the instructions. Wes
Isn't there a seperate board that attaches to the A1230? Cannot remember what the conditions are over this. You may want to ask the GVP tech over in the GVP forum.. Trent One of the "Frozen Chosen"

Your welcome! I was surprised how well it looked after I tried it! Now for the big question, why didn't they build it into the adapter???? Bob Comer — AmigaDOS and OS/2, the only way to compute! Cheyenne, Wyoming U.S.A.
ICD's coming out with a SCSI board. It plugs into the IDE connector, so it'll be somewhat slow. I ordered one yesterday. 🙂 $119 Bob Comer — AmigaDOS and OS/2, the only way to compute! Cheyenne, Wyoming U.S.A.
Don, I don't see why not, but I will check for sure tomorrow in the Motorola data book. Dean Brown DKB
Thanks, I do have CrossDOS, but the docs I have for it came with the standalone version I got before I upgraded my operating software, and they don't say anything about hard drives (removable or otherwise). I'll give it a try anyway, and ask more questions if I can't get…
Wesley, Yes…the ball is supposed to be loose in the socket. I'd strongly suspect that the rollers inside the mouse are dirty. You'll see the twist open cover where the ball sits. Open the cover and look at the rollers inside. IF they look like they've got little rubber bands…

May/June Fish CD problem
Message #151420
Mike, What version of the ASIMware CDFS are you using? Had the same problem with the FrozenFish CDROM. Called ASIMWARE, they supplied me with their latest update. Free of charge. (the device and handler are version 2.6 and 1.10) I use an A2000 with GForce030 40/40/4 and a Toshiba XM4101B.…
That's the sort of info I was looking for. Between you guys, and Bruce, I feel confident that this is a mod I should try myself. Thanks! Erik Flom
Thanks much! The message I DL'd was lacking in technical details, so I was unsure if it was some evil prank, or for real. Bruce, from PreVue Tech., assured me it would work on the SyncStrainer too. Thanks, Erik Flom
Thanks much for the prompt reply! This is good news! The exlpanation really helped. The message I DL'd didn't really explain why or how the mod worked – that was enough to make me kind of leery of the whole idea. That's very generous of you to offer to swap…
Try cleaning it first, and see if that helps. Most computer stores carry mouse cleaning kits. — Dale L. Larson, Intangible Assets Manufacturing
Ron, Indeed, there are several non-linear editing systems that are already using Motion JPEG. Avid comes to mind readily. As you have surmised, it is the audio encoding that is the most troublesome. In addition, if a Motion JPEG audio standard became available, I doubt that the compression ratio would…

I need some pointers on improving mouse performance. My mouse sticks when I drag it towards myself (down). The ball is loose in its socket. Is this thing shot or can I fix it? Wes
Monitors
Message #151388
Does anybody know about monitors? I have an Amiga 600 playing through the TV. I am about to get an Apple Mac, and would like to get a monitor for it which will work with both the Mac and the Amiga. None of the Apple or Amiga dealers seems to…
Yeah, it should. Thanks, Chris J.–>on AP
Trent… Yeah I already have a GVP 030/40 in the belly of the beast (the old version without SCSI so I would need to upgrade and just don't have the cash right now. That is about all that is missing on that computer. ..Carl
Yes, I did move DBLNTSC from my 1200 to my 2000, however, Super 72 from AmigaDOS 2.1 isn't showing up either.

Carl, PMFJI No SCSI for the A1200? I'm running an A1200 and all my externals are SCSI (1 80mb Quantum, 1 240mb Quantum, a Chinon 535 CD-ROM and a Viper tape drive). GVP makes a SCSI/RAM+ board that fits in the A1200s belly slot (as well as the A1230 Accelerator/SCSI…

Cyberflights
Message #151355
thanks for your comments on the AmiVRPro VR headset experience. just got a look at cyberflights myself (and it sure does look like most of the landscapes came from FractalPro, but that isn't mentioned on the part of the tape I've seen so far). I'd like to try some of…
EF >>Anyway, my question relates to the hardware hack that showed up here recently to clear up vertical bars in the Amiga display.>1. Would this _really_ work?>2. Would this work on the Sync Strainer?
VLab Motion does support Motion JPEG by hardware so you can in- and output films to your computer very easily and fast. But as said, using the CCube hardware on the VLab motion for doing the JPEG is not necessarily the best idea. But at least you can play any…

>1. Would this _really_ work? Yes, it does! It works great on my 23-15 pin adapter, but I don't know if it'll help the sync-strainer. Bob Comer — AmigaDOS and OS/2, the only way to compute! Cheyenne, Wyoming U.S.A.

Message #151321
You said you borrowed the DBLNTSC from your 1200. Did you install it on a 500, 2000, or 3000? If so they may not support it, therefore the system ignored the listing in you monitor setup. Just a guess. Jim R. Ollick Using AP from Bergenfield, NJ
Dean, No, you didn't drop the ball…I had simply posted a message to you asking if the 51xxxx parts were equivalent to the 41xxxx parts since I got a set of 16 MCM514256AZ10 chips and wanted to use them in a 2620. They are Motorola parts. So anyway…what do you…
If CrossDos is set up correctly on your Amiga you should have no problem reading or writing a PC formatted Syquest. CrossDos came as part of AmigaDos 2.1 or so. The Syquests will need to be formatted on your PC, Ounce you get things set up correctly its all quite…
Thomas, The best solution I've seen so far that doesn't involve scan doubling is monitors with long-persistance phosphors. These phosphors "hold" their photon charge long enough that there is little decay between fields. Some phosphors, though, can be so long that any reasonable screen rewrite (say closing a Workbench window)…
Erik, Yes in both cases. Pin 15 of the Amiga video port is a 3.58 MHz square wave that is just waving in the breeze. Without any load, its full 5v signal is cross-talking into its two closest neighbors, Red and Green. If only 1% of that signal is coupled,…

I have tried both warm and cold rebooting and the results are the same. I tend to think the problem lies in the deinterlacer in the IV24.
#Syquest via emulation?
Message #151289
I have an A3000 and a SCSI-based 486 that I need to share data between; what I'd like to know is whether there is such a thing as a piece of Amiga software that will let me read and write to MS-DOS formatted 88Meg Syquest carts. If not, would it…

#Upgrade Memory chips
Message #151281
Don, Did I promise you an answer on some DRAM questions? If so, I apparently dropped the ball! If my memory serves me, the difference between the 51 and the 41 versions of DRAMS is that the 41's are an NMOS process and 51's are a CMOS process. In most…

Cutting in here… John, you might be able to offer some insight on this. Seems to me (a complete layperson) that Motion JPEG might have advantages over MPEG. For one thing, it could be easier to create in software (heck, most of the tools one would need probably exist for…
