Believe me, being part of the Scala Technical Support Team, I get numerous questions from curious customers if we are going to make a PC version of our Scala MultiMedia software. The truth is, we are. However, it will be very different in how the graphics, animation and audio playback…

From: John Chang Amiga User Forum · Hot News and Rumors November 21, 1993 9:21 PM
Actually Mike, Commodore made the mistake in trying to make CDTV the "everything" machine. Part personal computer, part CD player, part game machine. The consumer got confused. Now that Commodore is marketing it as a "game machine only" it will find a niche in the market by representing it as…

You are correct in that multimedia and DTV was well represented at Comdex, but as you have just said it was mostly PC/Windows based. Rather hostile country for Amigans. Certainly Scala will be at Comdex once we have our PC product in hand. I wonder what kind of reception we…

As much as I like COMDEX, it is a computer show dominated by PCs. Even Macs are in the very minority. NewTek may have been smart in avoiding it this time since COMDEX is not exactly the best place desktop video and multimedia applications. For us, the biggest show is…

Thank you Craig! We will soon have our own RS-422 solution available. It is a Zorro card with four RS-422 ports and two GPI triggers. It will be used in conjunction with a new EX module for our InfoChannel software. We will also be releasing a new editing software package…

We welcome the competition! However, once everybody gets a look at the new Scala MultiMedia MM300 and upcoming InfoChannel IC500. They may have to go back the the drawing board again! Seriously, I'm glad that there are alternative presentation and multimedia programs available. It makes the Amiga platform that much…

A distinct possibility. Still, I really think that most of the stockholders new what the scoop was. Sincerely, John Chang Technical/Sales Support Scala, Inc.
From: John Chang Amiga User Forum · Hot News and Rumors November 17, 1993 9:32 PM
I really don't think it is a takeover, although the possibility still exists. I'm quiet sure that the major stockholders in CBM new what the losses were and there must be an element of faith and/or unfallible plan to reverse the company performance. I was talking to Matt Drabick today…
From: John Chang Amiga User Forum · Hot News and Rumors November 16, 1993 9:02 PM
We just got a copy of the article. Hmm, with the stock closing higher after such news, you have to think that most of the stockholders new about the loss all along. I agree that if was an operational loss, there would be a real problem. I still worry about…

We are planning on EX module support for the OpalVision and Toaster 3.0/4000. Unfortunately, there are some pressing projects that need to be finished first before we can continue development of these EX modules. Projected time thus far has been pushed back again and again. I'd rather not say when…

Kodak? Great film and document company. Not quiet sure how their corporate structure sees the applications of multimedia. After all, their Photo-CD technology was targeted at regular consumers. By any measure, that market has flopped. However, in multimedia circles, communications and DTP, it is a Godsend!
From: John Chang Amiga User Forum · Hot News and Rumors November 8, 1993 9:35 PM
Amen to that brother! As we all know, the Amiga technology is proven, has high performance and one of the better operating systems on the PC market. Somehow, I am reminded of the film "Tucker" in this situation.

Thanks for the updates Clint! We have talked to several other Amiga manufacturers. They are intrigued, however, they too are speculating on why the stock is so active. Keep the observations coming!
From: John Chang Amiga User Forum · Hot News and Rumors November 8, 1993 9:34 PM
Hmm, thank you for the different viewpoint. Since that broadens the possibilities of who would be interested in a company, which according to official communications, isn't for sale, who would be interested?
