#105172 #JRComm Problem Message #105270
From: Sean Lally Amiga User Forum · Communications June 28, 1993 1:22 PM
I can't remember if it's in the General settings submenu but somewhere there is a slot where you can change the default slot used by JRComm. My bet would be that you have a font there that's not on your system and JRComm is trying to look elsewhere. When it…
ProWrite PS pure? Message #105264
From: Sean Lally Amiga User Forum · Word Processing/DTP June 28, 1993 12:05 PM
Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows if ProWrite outputs an encapsulated or pure PostScript output? I was going to take a PS file up to a print shop and have them print it and they asked the above and I didn't know. Thanks for your help. -Sean

#103805 GPFax Message #103868
From: Sean Lally Amiga User Forum · Communications June 15, 1993 5:17 PM
Rob, I don't know how it does it but it works. I would imagine that they both make tones of some kind initially. In fact after sitting here listening to a few incoming faxes I've heard a beep of some sort alternating on and off every second or so. -Sean
#103754 #GPFax Message #103765
From: Sean Lally Amiga User Forum · Communications June 14, 1993 12:32 PM
Hello Rob, The silent answer somehow listens in without picking up and if it doesn't hear the correct fax tones it drops the line and if it does it picks up. -Sean

Hello Lu, I'm just paraphrasing Byte and don't really have enough knowledge to comment one way or the other except to say that the shape didn't change between the '020 and '030. -Sean

Don, Sorry to be so imprecise, if the processor number divided by ten yields an odd number then it was supposed to be a minor step forward. -Sean
#103602 #PasTeX location Message #103630

Clark, If you don't get any other offers within a couple of days I could put it together and upload it here. If I didn't have to make a long distance call I'd do it right now, oh well. -Sean

No problem, John. -Sean

John, You can issue an AT &F command which should reload all the registers to the factory default. Then an AT Z should get you hooked up correctly. -Sean

Lu, I read (in Byte)that the reason that Motorola is skipping the '050 is because they use odd numbered extensions for minor changes and even for radical changes. (Pardon any errors in phrasing.) -Sean

Hello Sean, This is a quote from 'Zen and the Art of the Internet': The FidoNet computer networkcan be reached by using a special addressing method. If John Smith is on the node '1:2/3.4' on FidoNet, his or her email address would be 'john.smith@p4.f3.n2.z1.fidonet.org' (notice how the numbers fall in…

Michael, I actually just got MetaFont the other night and have it installed, it's seems to be running out of memory though. I'm still fiddling off and on. I actually got it (TPP) to give me an error besides couldn't lock last night. Maybe I should drop the author a…

Mike, Check in your Libs: directory to make sure you have any iffparse.library in it and then use 'version iffparse.library' to check which version it is. If it's not the version required check out the OS installations disks that (I assume) came with your computer to see if there's more…

Clark, I wonder if anyone else is interested in it. I would just upload it but I'm long distance to Reading and would run the phone bill up a bit. However if anyone else wants it I'll put it up here. I found it at wuarchive.wustl.edu in /systems/amiga/utilities/text/utils.

Ron, There's a program in the libraries here called Post that will translate PostScript code to graphics and dump it to a non-PostScript printer so you can use your program if you reroute your program output to a file (with CMD) and then use Post on the file. -Sean

Terry, What you want to do with your ATS0 (that's a zero, BTW, not an 'oh') = n command is put a number between 1 and 255. For example ATS0=4, your modem will then answer on the fourth ring (5 for the fifth ring, etc.). -Sean
#98872 New Monitor Drivers! Message #98952
From: Sean Lally Amiga User Forum · Hot News and Rumors May 9, 1993 11:45 AM
Paul, Maybe C= is trying to eek a few dollars more out of all the 1200 purchasers. "Send us $25 with your proof of purchase (of course) and we'll send you the new drivers." -Commodore (Lurkers, they didn't really say that.) -Sean

I actually have an LQ-510. I like it just fine, it's light years ahead of my old (bought in '88 or so) Panasonic nine pin. The only thing that bothers me and I'm sure (or relatively so) that I just haven't figured it out yet is that I don't know…
Paul, I think you're right about C= getting on the ball. They even mentioned datatypes in the manual and then went on to say that they were only for use with 3.0. What's up with that? I don't think it was written to be a common manual between the two…
Paul, Those monitor drivers came with the 2.1 upgrade that I recieved the other day. Didn't everyone get them? -Sean

Pete, Thanks for the hint on possible people in the area. I had no idea! The few local (relatively speaking) BBS's are all PC oriented and if there have been Amiga folks on them it hasn't shown. I'll drop John a line tonight to see if he can help. -Sean
