And I'm 0.01% unsure that what you said is not false 🙂 Fred. Frederic Botton from Paris, France fbotton@cix.compulink.co.uk
#What's going on?

I see. Dan, please tell us whay the liquidator told you! Anyway, there should definitely be a book about the whole story of Commodore! Maybe you or Dale… 😉 Fred. Frederic Botton from Paris, France fbotton@cix.compulink.co.uk
Did they? The squales (Ali/Gould) could send a few lawyers to grab some green from that 😉 What does CDTV mean for Compaq? It xould be Compaq Dynamic Total Vision 😉 Fred. Frederic Botton from Paris, France fbotton@cix.compulink.co.uk
And I'm 101% sure of nothing 😉 Fred. Frederic Botton from Paris, France fbotton@cix.compulink.co.uk
CBM UK WINS!
Message #163096
That the right way to speed up things… But that's scary as everything could be dropped! Fred. Frederic Botton from Paris, France fbotton@cix.compulink.co.uk
#Liquidator liquidated?
Message #163095
I've been told that most of the stock movements i.e. C= Germany selling its stocks to Batavia etc. have been the last nasty things done by Ali… Unconfirmed… Fred. Frederic Botton from Paris, France fbotton@cix.compulink.co.uk
We sell CD32s on the French market (for professionals only) and we used to get our machines from C= France. When C= France closed, we used to get our machines from C= Germany. Alwin Stumpf told us there were plenty of machines, say until November… He did even start up…
The CD32 TV ad. hit the French TV as well, but the long version have only been on air twice, while around 50 for the short version. As many people only saw the short version, which was totally un-understandable, it seems that this ad. served Sega, as a game console…
Don't forget to tell it next time you'll be there! Will post your article on CI$? Fred. Frederic Botton from Paris, France fbotton@cix.compulink.co.uk
Oh, didn't want to bother, and I stayed there only for 2 days. 😉 And I have a friend there (he lives in the Drake Tower), and we did the tourists things in Philly 😉 He ued to have an Amiga, so he was aware of C='s situation and gave…
You may also own ImageFX. If so, someone has produced a PD PhotoCD loader (dunno if avalable on CI$) which is very reliable – I've used it a LOT -. Providing you have enough memory, you could use Arexx to make AdPro & ImageFX run together and share their piccies……
Thanx for these updates, Dan… I was in Philly a couple of days ago, and I bought an issue of Philadelphia Inquirer 😉 Too bad I'm back to Paris… Fred. Frederic Botton from Paris, France fbotton@cix.compulink.co.uk
That was _proposal_, of course 😉 Fred. Frederic Botton from Paris, France fbotton@cix.compulink.co.uk
Nope, my English understanding is not really good, but I've heard 'joint porposal'… Well, I've taped the message understand it well 😉 Fred. Frederic Botton from Paris, France fbotton@cix.compulink.co.uk
C= Uk & Germany representatives clearly told me these two independant C= entities were willing to continue their business under the name C=, whatever happens to the big C= (unless noone takes over the company of course, but I guess they would try to join forces with powerful distributors etc.…
RUMOR/FACT
Message #155436
RUMOR: 1 of the interested companies is Amstrad (at least for the European market). Fred. Frederic Botton from Paris, France fbotton@cix.compulink.co.uk
CDx is 2.01! Well, the last version I had was 1.65. I used to have troubles with CDx software while booting my machine… The CD was not recognized by the system, unless I did a diskchange cd0: or I remove & insert the caddie again. Now I'm using AsimCDFS 2.0…
I've phoned C= Germany this morning, and they have assured me Alwin Stumpf was still there and working… Fred. Frederic Botton from Paris, France fbotton@cix.compulink.co.uk
#C= Hotline
Message #154187
As I can't dial that kind of number from France, can someone tell me what the message says? TIA, Fred. Frederic Botton from Paris, France fbotton@cix.compulink.co.uk
That would be good as far as hardware prices for the end-user are concerned, who _who_ would do the the advertising, marketing that the Amiga never had before? Fred. Frederic Botton from Paris, France fbotton@cix.compulink.co.uk
I not THAT sure that Samsung is the One who will take over C=… Just because it takes quite a long time, which is not normal in that situation, just because Samsung are involved in several companies/projects including 3DO etc. From a marketing point of view, I just don't understand…
#Alwin Stumpf on the line
Message #150439
Kevin & Malcolm, I've phoned C= Germany yesterday and got Alwin Stumpf on the line… He didn't say anything clearly BUT I've understood that: 1) Samsung was in the competition. 2) Philips was in the competition. 3) Philips & Samsung share some things. 4) Philips tried to make Samsung &…
You're basically true, C= France heavily relying on PCs and suffered from big losses when the decision to drop PCs has been taken. But they are other reasons : they got involved in sports like soccer and sailing, putting huge amounts of money… Their ads. didn't even mention 'Amiga', just…
John, I just wanted to mention that C= France has closed a month ago… Fred. Frederic Botton from Paris, France fbotton@cix.compulink.co.uk
Amiga Kaput !
Message #147093
John, We are also Amiga developers and we are strongly committed to CD32, but we are moving onto other platforms just in case of! We have already experienced the CDTV fall and we just don't want to be stuck because of another eventual sudden-death! But as soon as a company…
#Philips and CD32
Message #147092
John, What I've seen in Philips' labs a few weeks ago was NOT based on CD32/Amiga technology at all! Sorry, but I've signed an NDA (I can hear you begging for more 😉 What I can say is what Philips works on won't be on the market until prices go…
#Gould owns AAA ?
Message #145345
From C= UK & Germany… Sorry, I won't tell the names… Fred. Frederic Botton from Paris, France fbotton@cix.compulink.co.uk
There's a light ?
Message #145344
Last time I've heard of him, he was doing some compression stuff on Macs… So he may not be far from 3DO… Fred. Frederic Botton from Paris, France fbotton@cix.compulink.co.uk
* Samsung is _really_ discussing with C= for a buy-out. * I. Gould did buy the AAA technology while 'loaning' about $10M, so the eventual buyer would have to buy the past and present Amiga & the future of the Amiga, which are now different. Fred. Frederic Botton from Paris,…
Arnie dais that because a few of the original Amiga crew went to 3DO after some deception by C= heads. Jim Sachs was one of these people to hook up with 3DO… Fred. Frederic Botton from Paris, France fbotton@cix.compulink.co.uk
Call that meta-rumours… Fred. Frederic Botton from Paris, France fbotton@cix.compulink.co.uk
All MicroSoft France exhibitions I've been so far have loadsa screens with Scala running… Very funny, because they are always telling about their Windows presentation apps. during these conferences 😉 Fred. Frederic Botton from Paris, France fbotton@cix.compulink.co.uk
Intelec Developments in France provide such adaptators (I use one from them) fax: ++33 1 3971 9902. You can also try Multimedia Machines Ltd. in UK. I know they have CDTV->CD32 adaptators in stock. I can search for their address if needed… Fred. Frederic Botton from Paris, France fbotton@cix.compulink.co.uk
I'm not sure that caddy drives are more reliable, just because all the CDWriters, inlcuding the one we have at work, do not use caddies… Fred. Frederic Botton from Paris, France fbotton@cix.compulink.co.uk
John, I think you're lucky that the AUI coverCD(!) works fine, because all the people I've talked to did have problems. It doesn't always happen… I share your enthousiasm about the CD32, even if C='s situation ain't really good… But as far as I remember, they always managed to escape…
It seems, according to AUI, that the demo is bugged, and won't work properly… BTW, some users have been able to make it run by doing a cold boot… Some other have booted other software, then the AmigaCD! disc and had it run ok. Sorry, I have no real clue,…
As I saw 'museum' stated in your posting, I just wanted to point out the London Transport Museum application that used a few A4000s and a few more CD32s networked. The result is astonishing! If you want further information, mail me. The project manager of this application is reachable by…
>Do you have any estimates on Photo CD support? One thousand zillions of AdPro users plus one that need PhotoCD support! Chris, time to call Kodak and beg for friendly license fees 😉 Fred. Frederic Botton from Paris, France fbotton@cix.compulink.co.uk
Ok, thanks a lot for your attention, and I wish you best luck on your work. Fred. Frederic Botton from Paris, France fbotton@cix.compulink.co.uk
Ok, Redmond, thanx for the info… Any fax number ? I _love_ beta-testing, so don't hesitate to send me a few untis if you need Euro/Pal debugging 😉 Just kidding… But could you please keep us informed about the development process, as I need this unit badly for my development…
I'm seconding Jerry here! Fred. Frederic Botton from Paris, France fbotton@cix.compulink.co.uk
Ok, Redmond… Will you work for Paravision and keep on developping this expansion module? Any chance to have Paravision, Inc. address, phone, fax? -Fred. Frederic Botton from Paris, France fbotton@cix.compulink.co.uk
>Say, what's the story on you guys? I heard you got bought. I'm seconding karl here… How are things going, and, most important for me, what's happening with the CD32 expansion module that MicroBotivcs have developped? There are thousands of users awaiting for such a beast here in Europe! As…
Christopher – >6-7 hours to get to PHL or NYC and only 4 by Concorde, gee, that's a >pretty fast car you got there! 🙂 That car does have wings 😉 >When did the transatlantic tunnel open? I thought it was still under Hey, already made it to UK! That's…

Your European E-Mall idea is really interesting… But your German language forum is not IMHO just because there may be non-German speaking people interested in what happens in Germany… That's what Europe is all about after all! Keep us informed!
Erm, both Philly and NYC are 6-7 hours from where I live |-(… Or about 4 hours if I were able to spend $5000 *2 to take the Concorde… Fred. Frederic Botton from Paris, France fbotton@cix.compulink.co.uk
C= should make a movie of that story! Maybe it would a box-office breaker, rather that a show/reputation/market breaker…
Dear! Ain't it already difficult enough for C=, 3rd party developers? What we need from C= are marketing battle plans, not soap operas! 🙁 I sincerely hope you'll overcome the loss of money! We're looking forward for your products, Jim… Fred. Frederic Botton from Paris, France fbotton@cix.compulink.co.uk
The support I have from 3DO is really good! BTW, I'm strongly convinced that developer support for the CD32 is the key to its success! You will see in a few months some people complaining about the lack of FMV-based games… The reason is simple : _no_ developers have been…
