The Field Rendering is similar to xcpecs format. In television you have 2 fields for every frame, hence 60 fields per second or 30 frames per second. When you playback video on a professional editing deck, you can view the individual fields. FR produces this result, with every second field…

Magic Lantern is a very different program from Anim Workshop. Read my anim tips to Jeff, also. You should continue to use HAM8 and use DCTV only for digitizing, and maybe some retouching (although I don't recommend that part). And by all means, buy ML. I don't believe you'll be…

From: Vance Schowalter Amiga Arts Forum · Animation August 24, 1994 1:59 AM
Here are another couple of tips for making better anims: Although DCTV uses a hi-res format to store data, the detail accuracy is low and you also have chroma artifacts and improper colouring. By using HAM8 in resolutions such as 368×482 and using the improved anti-aliasing available in either renderers…

clarriSSA uses only one technique to create animations which are generally faster and smoother than the ANIM formats. Magic Lantern has over 10 algorithms to ensure fast playback. ML has the ability to 'mix cocktails' (algorithms) to find the best way to achieve speedier results. This does not mean that…

Well, if Windows 4.0 truly stops bottlenecking and choking like its predecessor, then that'll be fine. Until 4.0 proves this to be true, I'll stand by my statement on the current Windoze. *8^)

clarriSSA is not as flexible or as fast as ML, and does not appear to have sound support. A review on ML in AW was extremely favourable of the product as a low-budget alternative to PAR. PAR is better overall, but considering ML is under $100 and all software, makes…

Impulse said they avoided using Windows as they said it would slow down the rendering process, since Windows is such a pig for resources to just get it to run. The announcements I read on LW for other platforms included Windows as well as Windows NT.

I've also tried clarriSSA, in HAM8 hires mode, and average just under 30fps on a friend's A4000. I think I might still prefer Magic Lantern though, since it supports sound syncing.

The 2mb is enough for 1 large buffered 24 bit image, 4mb would be preferable. IM R/t recommends a minimum of 6mb to run properly. I've found that GigaMem works perfectly fine with it. If you have an MMU and can't afford the extra ram, virtual memory is extremely useful.…

As far as I know, the Retina Z-III isn't out as yet, but is to be released, soon. The resolution I was mentioning was a mistake. It was the one that the original Retina used. Z-III not only has it higher, but is programmable for even higher. As for superbitmaps,…
