Ethan, Technically the daughterboard on the 3000 is the vertical board in the center of the motherboard that contains the expansion bus connectors. I was making somewhat of a joke in that the current roms in the 3000 consist of a printed circuit board with roms on it and who…
Now that's interesting, but one would think 0x01,0x02 would do the same thing. Sure, I'll try it too:) Tnx again. Harry
Yep, that works Don UBYTE databuf[BLOCKSIZE] = {1,2,3,4,5….}; doesn't work.
2.01 was a Kickstart revision to fix "seeking on an empty file open for write" problems. Yeah, I still consider it BETA too, until i can take that darn daughterboard for the "ROM" out of the 3000 and put in real roms. 🙂 Harry M.
Thanks. I'll try that. What I found did work properly was to create a second uninitialized UBYTE buff2[512] array and memcpy the UBYTE buf1[512] initialized array to it, then use buff2 to scsidata. Mike Roth said the compiler will put initialized data in a data hunk and the uninitialized data…
#SCSI HELP!
Message #117966
I'm having troube with the "scsi.device" which has replaced the "hddisk" device on the 3000. I am trying to use the SCSICmd structure and cannot send more than 256 bytes or else the system hangs with the HD light remaining on. Setting up a data buffer with a byte pattern…
I use a dental handpiece (drill). Little diamond tips cut and drill right where you want. Harry m.

VLT is a very good VT100 and tektronix graphics terminal emulator. It supports Arexx and several file transfers too. HarryM. \exit

BTW, I never store, ship, or move monitors or tv cameras face down. Sometimes ther is debris in the tube that can fall onto the phospors or image plate causing dead spots. Maybe you had this and it fell off. Harry M.
It didn't cause apparent problems, but it is a filter of one of the pot signals. Probably would have caused jitter of analog joysticks. My case is the same way. Harry

I use access and noticed that one too. The screen goes yellow and the system reboots. I'll have to try VLT out and see if it works. HarryM.
I had to replace my 1000 when it was 2 weeks old. The floppy disk connector doesn't seat tightly on the motherboard. I have to re-seat it every 6 months. Other than that, it's worked great for 5 years. The SCSI connector on the 3000 seats loosely, this will be…
Speaking of which, I had to completely dissamble and re-assemble my 3000. One of the things wrong was a capacitor that was mis-grabbed (you could see the mangeled lead) and one end was not connected. I wrote a letter to CBM about this and other QC items I found in…
Jamie, I have the same version you do. Kickstart is 36.141. The version the dealers received (assuming one of the first machines) was still a beta version. The version we have is supposed to be "final" but I doubt it will be. I don't know if you have dissassembeled your…
I too have "the latest" 2.0 on my Amiga 3000 and it was delayed in shioment er shipment to get it installed. To the best of my knowledge it is not Beta 5 anymore. HarryM
I have em too:)

Lattice Flame
Message #114194
And so I'll throw in my 2 cents. I am trying Lattice 5.05, nothing fancy yet adn have used MS QuickC. The only thing I don't like about MicroSoft stuff in general is their "extensions" to the language. Hope what I hear about Lattice is not true, and the flamers…
Gee, I writing this using a wyse 30/. I also have a Wyse 50. Are you using it on an ALPHA-MICRO by chance. I too could use one and a TANDEM 6350 emulator too. Let me know if you find one. HarryM
Boy this terminal is weird. That was I'll look at it this weekend:) HarryM
I'LL LOOKee whi I can find for you. To help me, why don't you send me the table of codes amiga to HP in a message. Harry M.
You must hold down the mouse button on power up, not just bootup. BTW, the system remembers 1.3 or 2.0 when rebooted. HarryM
Where there are some First Rate Hot Peppers growing I hope 🙂 HarryM
Since I last posted, I went to a SONY dealer. Almost all their stuff has a video in jack. Even the 2.5" LCD color TV! The TV's I mentioned are about 5" by 7" face and almost 12" deep (really guessing here). Speaking of status displays, I sent for some…
I had a similar problem with an A1000. The problem wasn't the Starboard itself, but this is what I found: 1. The main problem was that the 256k add on memory connector had gotten dirty. 2. So had the expansion connector. 3. The Cltd controller didn't connect well to the…
Egads, not in my 3000 thank you. Harry M.

read/write error
Message #111845
Ocassionally, (6mos to a year), the cable from the drive to the motherboard would loosen up. It doesn't fit very tightly anyway. This is on an A1000. It would do the type of things you mentioned. May help. Harry Manolopoulos

I get AC hum when on the adaptor, so I use the batteries all the time. Seems to draw little power when idle. Harry Manolopoulos
I agree with that one! As far as complaining goes, 2.0 is supposed to be "in the can". The funny thing is that the 3000 says loading 2.x. I think we both know what that means. I'm really not throwing any rocks yet, I can remember all the "fixes" from…
It's not color, but I modified a Rhapsody 4" BW tv for video in and it works off the composite video output of the A1000. You can clearly read ALL the guages on Flight Simulator and the grey scale rendition of color is acceptable. These TV's are made in various…

#Workbench 2.0 HELP
Message #111358
Just my humble opinion…. Some things were moved into kickstart such as the FFS making it larger than the memory available on the WCS. By moving it to FAST RAM, it could be "tested" and easily modified across all machines. It's really no different a situation than having floppies contain…

GO-AMIGO advertises 1000 keyboards, they say call for price. Check out AMIGAWORLD magazine for an ad. HarryM.
Saw this one late, if the "lube" problem is the head sticking to the disk preventing it from spinning up, you can start the drive by hand by nudging the drive motor rotor with a toothpick or the likes of. The drive can get very hot if left "stuck" and…
I have an early a1000 and its' mouse switches are also the "raised block" type. With regular cleanings, I've never had problems with switches or x/y wheels – sensors. It is a bit heavy and one must be careful about using a clean surface or mat as the glide pads…
As we say in Minnesota, "You bet!" I could post a pending list in #10 however. It will be interesting to see who "broke the rules". 🙂 Harry M.
Need selected Icon list.
Message #104278
I looked thru al lthe docs, RKM, etc and can't find out how to get a list of selected Icon(s)such as in group copies of files or drawers. Can anyone help?
A wyse 700 (for IBM type PC's) has a 1280×800 interlaced hi-res mode. This is a B/W only system (card and monitor) but very nice for DT pub, cad. It supports 1280×400 non-interlaced, but hires is better. I don't think I'll be using productivity mode much.:(
When I get my 3000 (soon I hope), I'll do a list of what works and what doesn't from my collection of software. It would be premature to say what files on a 1000.

I like them both. I was fond of 1.0's drag bar too. I think the new ones (look) gives the machine an impressive image up front. Hopefully this will make more converts!

Got my letter today too. B3 is shipping Thursday. Certified Developers must send their original B2 disks and disk folder to get B3 for free or send $20 to CATS. They also mentioned that they are planning to refer to 1.4 as 2.0 in the future……the wild speculations continue :)…
OK Dave, I will. I send you my tower of power photo , my stack of hardware is as follows from the bottom up: Tandy 3000, Alpha Micro AM1000, VCR, AMIGA 1000 with starboard and Cltd controller (not in case), and on top of all this is my floppy drive,…
I take care of my AMIGA, It looks pretty good. I had to return my original AMIGA XM110????? as it had a problem and now I'm not close although I dis purchase in Jan. 1986.
I like that one, I'd probably win with all the junk I've got 🙂 HarryM
