Diamond Stealth problem
Message #192480
Is it possible to get truecolour with the Diamond Stealth 64 VRAM PCI with 2MB RAM? When trying to configure Vibrant, the system crashes with memory protection errors. The Diamond bios is 2.04. Chris Wee
Network rendering
Message #146365
I've reported in the past of problems in a network rendering environment using a network of Pentium 60 machines. Under network rendering (doesn't matter whether it is 3ds3 or 3ds4), maps can behave unpredictably. When rendering on the same machine, same frame in local mode, its perfect. I always suspected…
Thanks for your prompt reply, >Your flare problem is probably due to your using flare.ixp instead of >flare2.ixp (the network-capable version). Is that correct? We're using flare.ixp. What's flare2.ixp and how do I get/upgrade? Regards, Chris Wee
#bizzare network problem
Message #127760
We've got a bizzare network rendering problem. Rendering machine is Pentium with 96MB RAM. When rendering as a slave machine, shadows get messed up. Also IPAS flare does not appear where it was intended. No problems when rendering as a standalone with file sent to local or network drive. Same…
That's probably because PAR is NTSC and we in England need PAL. Anyone knows if PAL is out yet? Also, can you get component output from the PAR? The Matrox MAX sounds like a better system but costs lots more, and can give component output with the option on the…
Andrew, We're a heavy 3DS user (and dealer) in the UK, with render farm and video production setup. I'd be interested in getting involved with a 3DS SIG. Anything I can do? Regards Chris Wee Rosswood in Aylesbury, England
horror movie
Message #88823
I've got to produce a small animation for a horror movie where a human hand dissolves down to the skeleton. To avoid starting on the wrong track, any tips, advice and comments will be greately appreciated.
Thanks for the suggestions. I'm off to check Chris Wee
Queue Status-Network
Message #84981
Does anyone know why the Queue Status on the Queue Entry Dialogue box reports that a rendering machine has failed, when it is actually successfully rendering? At least, this appears on my system. Is something incorrectly set? Chris Wee
Thanks, silly me, I was looking in acad/s9 Got it, read it and enjoyed it. Chris Wee

#3dsnet.txt
Message #84460
Can anyone tell me where this file is? I cant seem to locate it in Whats New. Thanks Chris
I cant seem to locate this file. Is it still there? Chris
Thanks for the reply. I've done the necessary bits, disabling high memory, using himem instead of qemm, etc but to no success. The system works fine using 3D Studio to render and I can still render the flc files this way but Flitape has a few advantages that I want…
#Flitape/VLAN Crashes
Message #29015
I have not been able to use Flitape to render to a VLAN device. It always crashes with different messages. The last message was Abnormal program termination stack fault CS:EP=0054:0002001 Any ideas? I don't think its a hardware problem as I get it on serveral other makes of machines. VLAN…
