Greg, you are right, I haven't been very clear asking away that question about Ispell, let me try to explain. I have the source and the binaries of Ispell, which is a spellchecker with an arexx port. The archive comes with an english dictionary. The source states that provided one…

Paul, I don't know what the needs of PhotoShop are, memorywise, but Adobe Illustrator runs fine here. This needs 8 meg for the Mac on a 12 meg A4000/40. . – Lieven Lema
Peter, :with the one caveat that the busy light stays on all the time. Have to dissapoint you there, everything is perfect now. If and when my registration comes in (should be here in a couple of days) I'll let you know how my CDROM is behaving, we'll meet between…
Jeff, serial to serial might work, but I've read that apple-printers are somewhat different than we know on the amiga-platform. Postscript is postscript, sure enough, but there must be some handshaking between the printer and the computer. Apple's have Appletalk instead of centronics interfaces, should your printer have this, then…
Peter, it's actually rebuilding, the 'knocking down walls'-part was easy enough, it's building back up that takes time. Regarding mfm.device, christian Bauer sent me a patch, had to fiddle with a few bytes in a hexeditor, but that doesn't work. Apparantly we're the only ones with this problem, noone else…
Jeff, you can print postscript to a file, transfer these to the Mac and print them from there. A nice thing about postscript is that it's the same on all platforms. . – Lieven Lema
Peter, oops, I have 3.1 too, so mfm.device is version 40.9 too, don't know where I got the number I stated you. My CDROM is IDE-connected with the more than excellent ATAPI software, now called IDEFIX. no troubles at all there. I'd like to get together with you sometime, I'm…
Peter, :The MAC system under Shapeshifter will not recognise a disk unless that :disk is in the drive on boot-up. I have the same problem using 3.1 of SS, so you can exclude this from the problems on your machine. According to the author there's a bug in the mfm.device…
: Let's be real: the Amiga is simply not in the mainstream of business :productivity applications. : That's the opinion I expressed and the availability of a word processing :or spreadsheet application isn't going to change that reality. Your logic resembles that of a ten year old, of hich I…

Hi Asha, :Leiven, it's Lieven, but hey, I can imagine it's exotic to you. 🙂 1.1 is indeed the latest version, dated 2 may 1995. It's not a big file, I could upload it off course, but I don't have the original archive anymore. . – Lieven Lema

#Golded 3.0
Message #197309
Dear Sysop, I uploaded Golded 3.0 a couple of days ago, and it can't be found in the library. Lieven Lema …on autopilot from Belgium.
Paul, PMFJI DirOpus does indeed file-management, but as an option you can replace your workbench with Dopus. You then get a screen with icons representing the various HD's etc., and you can launch any program from within dopus. You can obtain as many listers as you want in Dopus5, and…
Hilary, (and Erik I guess) there is indeed a possibility connecting an ATAPI-IDE CDROM to a 4000, providing you configure it as slave (the HD as master, off course), and make use of the atapi.device and the CacheCDFS-filesystem. It works like a charm here on my 4000/30 and a MITSUMI…
Lu, Dietmar's actual email address is Dietmar@tomate.tng.oche.de. The difference between Pro and Pro/net is very simple : with Pro/net you receive a keyfile via email (you need PGP for this), the Pro version is a disk with the latest version, your keyfile and a printed manual. Regarding the payment options,…
Dave, I've sent email to stefan Ossowski, and I got the package yesterday, had to wait for exactly two weeks. You can reach them at stefano@tchest.e.eunet.de or at Compuserve 100336,1245 but I never got a response on that address, only via internet. There must be an address in the US…
Bart, I was born in Bruges. :-\ As to moving to shareware: it all depends on the application, doesn't it ? An accounting package is destined for professional use. Lieven Lema …on autopilot from Belgium.
Phillip, I seem to remeber the 1580, or was it 1581, a 3.5" drive ? They were rather expensive at the time, but so were all diskdrives. I can imagine that someone could come up with a suitable interface to enable the use of standard drives. Lieven Lema …on autopilot…
Bart, >Cheap commercial. In Belgium, people “don't'' use shareware.< please don't give Belgium a bad name, we don't need this. I run a registration site for Golded, and I received plenty of shareware fees, Nico Francois has 1300+ registrations for Spot (OK, from all over the world, but I know…
Bart, if that tax calculation program is based on the Belgian legislation, consider me as a potential buyer. Lieven Lema …on autopilot from Belgium.
Phillippe, nothing will happen, when developing the board, this jumper was used to switch, te option was taken out before the 4000 was launched. It might crash or damage your system perhaps, so beware. If you did try, don't forget to tell us. 😉 Lieven Lema …on autopilot from Belgium.

Steve, don't worry too much about Picassomode. If you stick to the presets then nothing can go wrong. Just pick the one that matches your monitor closest. If you expect to get 60 Khz from a 38 khz monitor you will end up finding some melted plastic, off course…:-) Lieven…
Bart, apparantly things could speed up when using a registered version of PPP.device, the unregistered or evaluation version doesn't support compression (see the docs). We could be webbing better, but it will cost an additional 15$. Lieven Lema …on AutoPilot from Belgium
AGA and an '060! (And if, perchance, they could let the motherboards be >>sold separately… ) But in a 4000 housing, we need a 5 1/4 bay, remember ?!;-) Lieven Lema …on AutoPilot from Belgium

Rene, if AE exports EPSF and Corel imports it, then your problem is solved. Now I know AE can export in EPSF, or call it Adobe Illustrator, but I'm haven't got the slightest idea what Corel Draw can achieve. Lieven Lema …on AutoPilot from Belgium
ATAPI-IDE
Message #190079
Hi, has anyone experience with a ATAPI-IDE CDrom instalment on a A4000 ? I have the file-system, and the atapi-driver, but I would like to know if it really works before spending $'s on a CD-ROM. Lieven Lema …on AutoPilot from Belgium

Kenny, I love NewIcons, and I'm desperate to lay my hands on the NewIconsEditor that has been promised. I love the way colors stay the way you want them, whatever happens, and it's small, free, easy…what more can one ask for. Lieven Lema …on AutoPilot from Belgium
Dear Zeddock, as a registration site for Golded, allow me to help you out. Regarding Ispell, I'm not sure what version you are using, but an arexx-script could and will solve your problem. I suggest email to continue this discussion. TABS are fully configurable, check your CONFIG/MISC settings, you can…
Stefan Boberg, the guy is hard to get in touch with. I registered LHA and never got my keyfile. I had one message from him (in reply to my numerous posts and letters) telling thet I was actually registered, but he failed to resend me my key, allthough I offered…
Hi Don, if you want to optimise the Picasso monitor-file to your monitor specifications, you need a program called Picassomode. This, potentially dangerous, program allows you to tweak the monitordriver, but you must be carefull. A friend blew his monitor because he wanted too much. I got Picassomode from a…
Just make sure the s-bit is on, it's a script you know. Hope you have a dirutil like DirOpus which will let you do this easily. Lieven LEMA On Autopilot from Belgium
The program you refer to is DynaCad. It is still available, it was anyway on the last Amigashow in Cologne. Current version is 2.04, 3.0 has been announced over two years ago, so development on the amiga-side is somewhat stalled. But the 3.0 version for PC exists, and can even…

Well let me resume what I wrote before : I have a 4000/30 with MMU and a 1942 monitor. My workbench runs in Multiscan Prod 8 colors. All I can do is run Scanlab100 in a forced NTSC High res screen, though I wish Multiscan would be possible. Lieven LEMA…
That's an easy one to answer, I run almost evrything on multiscan productivity. I did find out in the meantime that I can see the whole screen of the scansoft if I promote the screen to ntsc (no other specification), after doing so the screens open in NTSC:High res laced.…
