Paul, How do you support audio in your setup? I didn't think that the PAR supported it. Jonathan

Robert, Since OS/2 Warp supports Win32s apps, why not use that? For that matter, you can download the 32-bit libraries for plain old Windows, and use that. Works for me… Jonathan

Ben, Why bother with a 68k version of NT? Run it in "native" mode on the upcoming 615, which will (supposedly) do hardware translation of both x86 and 68k code. Imagine having AmigaDOS running under an NT window 🙂 Jonathan

Susan, Sounds like the Opalvision card. You *should* have your monitor plugged into the 23-pin port on the Opal. The only other user installed port would be the SCSI card. Jonathan

Fidel, I just sold more than comparable acclerated A2000 for less than half that. Good luck… Jonathan
Perry, Its great to see you here! I'd like to say that I recently got Elastic Reality (a couple of days ago), and it works quite well. In fact, I like it a lot better than its "ancestor", ADPro on the Amiga (I'm an ex-Amiga person). However, there are a…
#156405 Cringely sez… Message #156473
Mr. C… What I wonder is why the Amiga is getting mentioned so much now? I mean, if you don't mention something because it ain't newsworthy, why would the death notice of same become newsworthy? Maybe now that C= is out of biz, Microsoft has relaxed its press censorship of…
#Cringely sez… Message #156317
Thought that Robert X. Cringely's latest "rumor" might serve as a good recap… "It is also the availability of fast processors that has led to such low bids for bankrupt Commodore [this paragraph follows another talking about how Pentium and work-alike prices are dropping through the floor]. The trustees last…

John, You old curmugeon…it has a street price of over $1200…because I have two offers of $1300! Remember, the machine shipped without keyboard and monitor anyway, and mice are under $75 anywhere. FYI, it has three NuBus slots, and a processor direct slot; it is the same machine as the…

I hope that nobody finds this in bad taste, but I happen to have a Mac Centris 650 for sale pretty cheap. If you are having a hard time finding software, but just can't give up that Motorola addiction, this one might be for you 🙂 Here 'tis: Centris 650…
Here's the latest from Infoword's Robert X. Cringely… " { at comdex } There was a lot of talk, surprisingly, about Commdore and the fate of the Amiga, which I understand Samsung intends to sell chip sets for, so we may acutally see legions of Amiga clones. H-P is also…
Dale, Amazingly cheap, although Arcnet is….Arcnet. What kind of deal do they have for users that want add a third Amiga? How can I hook my PC up to this as well (not being familar with Envoy)? Is there any way? Jonathan

#New Buyers for C=? Message #146029
I heard a great rumor off the Internet… It seems that the future owner of Amiga technology is itself just emerging. Strong indications point towards a merger of Sansui and Mitsui; the new company will be called Bahbabui Industries. Evidentally, Bahbabui is the rumored large Asian company. It hasn't hit…

Peter, I played with a PPC demo of Infini D today…nice interface, but the speed seemed to be seriously lacking (considering all the hype about PPC). I modeled a sphere with a Julia Set texture. Turned on all options – shadows, raytracing, reflection, etc. The demo only allowed a maxium…

Wesley, We will look into this a bit, but I have no answer now. GroVeR does the job OK, but requires ample disk space for your frames (unless you want to JPEG them, perhaps using the ASDG Sentry program), *and* Toaster 3.0 or better. Jonathan
#77836 Software Failure Message #77874

Kent, You are still on the Beta list; things should start moving *really* soon…I mean it this time 🙂 No need for the BCD directory – BCD finally came through for us. In terms of crashing…why would I bother with sequencing out of LW when I have GroVeR 🙂 Jonathan
#77816 #Software Failure Message #77828

Kent, Funny you should mention GroVeR 🙂 We had a lot of problems with Toaster support. We decided to start with the Toaster 2.0 software, which was a mistake. It seems that it just doesn't work the same way that the 3.x revisions do, at least when used with ADPro…despite…

Tony, All we've heard is about a new 4000 possibly coming; same features as before, but cheaper to build. Cheaper to the consumer? Don't know. I think some of this was mentioned in the Haynie/Jessup conference. I also think it was mentioned that the '030 version would not have a…

Its my understanding that DMI's product still has some bugs in it – enough so that it causes production problems. Seems that there is a problem with the hardware they are using, and the that problem is only getting addressed now.

Hi… I decided to do some more testing, until I get a response… I "killed" off my Startup-Sequence, in the hopes of booting a "clean" system; I also gave ADPro ~6 megs of memory to play with. So far, I still cannot get VT_BUFFER to work. I even reloaded the…

Howdy. I've been trying to use the VT_BUFFER saver with Toaster 2.0 software. It doesn't seem to work. Basically, all it will do is pop up the current contents of the chosen buffer; it will not transfer anything into it. I have tried various memory settings, from 1.5 meg to…

Don, How's this for a really crazy idea? How about a MIPS-based Bridgeboard? I envision something like the Netware Application Engines some networking companies offer for their hubs – which are nothing more than '486s that slide into the hub chassis. If you think about it, there are probably a…

It was my impression from the thread here that the entire show was cancelled, mostly due to C= pulling out.
