Yes it does, and it does not need script files to do multiple backups. It also automatically spans tapes (in other words "insert Tape 2"). No other backup program does this.

The demo version of Ami-Back 2.0 only works under WorkBench 2.0. The release version of Ami-Back2.0 has a WB 2.0 version and a WB 1.3 version. The WB 1.3 version is fully supported and contains all of the 2.0 features.

If I understand your question correctly, then the answer is yes Ami-Back does this. Just because the data is compressed is no reason to be unable to locate it. If you are using floppies, and you backed up your data using compression, Ami-Back still knows what disk a particular file…
