??? Why is there an update to NAV 2.0 (update 1) specifically including this virus ? I mean, I'm a NAV user & lover (see my earlier message), but I thought this was a new strain we were talking about ? — Matt
Kenneth (& All) — Check out the "What's new" notices !! Try "GO MICHAELANGELO" !! — Matt
$$$???
Kenneth — I've switched to Norton Anti Virus after "playing" with several others… However, given the time frame involved with MichaelAngelo, you may want to think about McAffee's SCAN since it's shareware and available on several BBS's… The primary difference between the tools is how they manage memory checks, and…
Rojer — Glad to help… You canNOT use disk compression/realignment/defragment utilities on a "stac'ed" drive — most of the newer utilities, e.g. : NORTON SpeedDisk at version 6, won't even recognize the drive… In cases where the defragmenter/compresser recognizes the drive, (NU @ 5.0), you may be doing more harm…
Rojer — There are two kinds of "data compression" software: realtime and not. Based on your subj. heading, it sounds like you're looking at realtime compression, such as stacker, or somthing like it. I think you'll find that depending upon what application (and thus what version of .TGA) you'll only…
This is indeed a limitation, although some GIF's aren't compressed, so you may see some improvement there… I run stacker (v2.0) on a variety of machines… The difference between stacker and ZIP is that stacker is designed for real-time compression, while ZIP, LZH, ARC, etc. are not… Although if you…
Robert — Thanx for the info… Funny, the previous messages didn't seem to indicate a need for "special paper" on the 500C… I had a bad experience with a QMS Postscript printer in the past… Not a maintenance problem, just not happy with the print quality (my HP LJ III…
Yes, I did… Actually (and humorously enough) that's what COREL suggested… The bad news is that no matter what tool or method I've tried, I can't seem to retain the true colors (I think my Windows display driver might be hinering me here — I get 16 colors) and I…
I guess there's no other way around it… I'll have to use the phone !!! Thanx — — Matt
Jack — Merci, Merci, Merci !!! Yes, I was talking about ANI PRO, and obviously, I'm not as well versed as you… I will give this a try tonight !! Thanx, again ! — Matt
I'm not familiar with the "FillTo" tool, but I'll look into it ! Thanx ! — Matt
#Re-Fill a Gradient ?
Message #8338
How anoying ! When an object is filled with a gradient fill, how do you "re-fill" it with anything else ? It seems that even when you try to fill each section with the same solid color, you wind up with small overlay sections that are apparently intermediate colors… Anyone…
Kevin — You're quite right that the >$5K printers are not in the $$ I was thinking of, although I'm still interested in knowing what I should be paying for… I think I can live with the speed as long as I can count on the resolution and color representation.…
Jeff — Thanx very much for the very detailed "low-tech" info ! I saw Kevin Krell's response to you, and he's right, he's getting out of my immediate intentions, but not perhaps my longer-term… I'll reply to his message directly regarding the difference between the PaintJet and the XL, unless…
Kevin — I appreciate the questions… They're all valid. I stated in my *first* message that I'm trying to get as much printer for as little money as possible. I realise that that statement is quite relative, but I'm looking to get input on alternatives (in other words the budget…
Will — Tiffany was recommended by someone else… I think Sherwood, but I don't remember exactly. Image Prep is a new one… Who manufactures it, and where can I get it or more info ? Also, could you whet my appetite with more info on what you mean by "other…
Sherwood… No, I haven't even heard about the Panasonic VCR that prints frames as a photo… I'll need to look into this ! It sounds really neat. On the same front, though, I think I still need a high-res (300x300x256 ?) color printer so that I can print from COREL…
#Color Printers ?
Message #8247
I'm in the market for a "good" color printer so that I can print single frames for various purposes including proposals… The problem should be obvious: I'm looking for as good a printer as I can get for as little money as possible… Awhile back I saw a Mannesman Tally…
Another good idea… Thanx ! — Matt
Mike -different screen driver, but I will give it a try ! I agree that ANI PRO is a better COLOR tool, and hadn't really thought of that approach either… I still have a problem though with resolution loss due to the screen display resolution, but perhaps with a tighter…
Thanx for the recommendation… Please see my reply to Sherwood regarding the problems I experience using screen capture, though… it would seem that resolution is severely sacrificed in this manner… Not to mention that some color rendition is lost. Where can I get more info on Tiffany Plus ? Thanx,…
Sherwood -used Paint Shop – a shareware utility to do a screen capture… The problem here, is that while maintaining aspect ratio, color isn't great, to say nothing of resolution… I think what I really need is to get a good vector to bitmap conversion going so that I don't…
#COREL to ANI PRO ?
Message #8052
I am a COREL DRAW user who is looking to create some animations from a series of marketing type pictures in COREL. The problem I have is that COREL doesn't export to any bitmaps in COLOR… I've tried HIJAAK, but am having trouble maintaining aspect ratio and correct color balance…
