#Current or New Feature
Message #3277
Hi, I was wondering. Does the current version of AM have a way of pulling up more than 2 views in the sculpt, Figure or Action module. It would be nice to have at least 3 views for modeling Side,Top and Dynamic-3d. Thanks EMK
Steve, I agree that a set of new features would be more desirable than a visual perk, but on the other hand: I think you will find that a color preference, is a trivial task to implement in the Windows and Mac environment. Never the less I'm sure if you…
#Background colors
Message #3081
Hi, I have a request for the next update of AM. This feature may already be slated for the AM release or maybe its already in the current version. Is it possible to change the background color in all of the modules to a different color other than black. A…
Steve, The Gouraud shading idea sounds good. Does that basically mean that the AM renderer will be able to give a quick color preview of the animation (no raytracing, shadows, etc) or am I mistaken. Also I always see a Phong rendering option in other animation packages, are there any…
#OpenGL again
Message #2834
I'm not sure if my last message was posted? My question focused on the fact the AM v3 will only take advantage of the OpenGL interface in its preview windows in the Sculpt module. The rendering will not use it because the renderings are patch based and not polygon based.…
Steve, If AM will not be able to take advantage of OpenGL rendering (except in sculpture previews), won't that provide a strong advantage for other vendors who support OpenGL rendering in their animation packages. Does Hash have any tricks up their sleeves that will allow them to compete with 3d-software…
Pawel, What specifically are you addressing when you say that the OpenGL only applies to preview rendering? EMK
The only company that I know of is Evans And Sutherland. They are developing one that will plug into the PCI slot. Maybe the boys at Hash could step in and give us some insight. EMK
Michael, Without getting into too much detail. OpenGL (Open Graphics Language) is a standard interface designed by Silicon Graphics. It is a composite of an abstracted API (Application Programming Interface) set of "routines" that employ high performance graphics algorithms for (3d and 2d rendering). An application can benefit from OpenGL…
Steve, Thats great!! Do you have any kind of preliminary benchmarks on the OpenGL accelerators? Not necessarily hard numbers but more or less predicted performance in renderings? 4x, 10x, 100x ??? From speaking with some of your people at COMDEX Hash is slated to release the new version in Jan-Feb.…
OpenGL
Message #2622
Hi, Does anyone know of a company that has or is working on a Hardware accelerator for OpenGL enabled applications? Also I am eagerly awaiting your next release of AM. What will the upgrade price be? I currently own a copy of Playmation with the 24bit render and decaler. If…
#OpenGL
Message #2621
Hi, Does anyone know of a company that has or is working on a hardware accelerator for OpenGL applications that will run on WinNT? Thanks
Ophir, I don't know the name of the library from Caligari's True Space animation package. But it does contain a realtime animation library that they have licensed from a company. If you contact them, they might be able to give you the name of the company. EMK
#Light Wave
Message #2429
Adam, I went to see the so called new version of LightWave. In my opinion, it was "Light Years" from being finished. At comdex all ISV's put together a demo of whatever they can and usually over-estimate their current software capabilities. Light Wave's demo was pretty damm sad. I wouldn't…
#NEW Windows Release??
Message #2375
Hi, I had visited your booth at Las Vegas (Comdex) and spoke with one of our software engineers. He mentioned a couple things that I wanted to verify: 1) In Jan-Feb. a new version of Anim. Master will be released that will run-on NT (Intel). In its native mode. 2)…
Conv. MFC APP to a DLL
Message #30304
Hi, Is there any literature on converting your MFC APP to a DLL? I'm interested in creating a DLL comprised of different dialogs. Is there some kind of painless way of developing them as if they were in a regular app using the class wizard and app studio integration and…
#Upgrade To 3DS
Message #83154
I currently own a copy of 3ds 1.10 and am currently reviewing upgrading to your new version R3. What would the price for a version upgrade?
Playmation
Message #83147
Sorry to but in to your conversation but I happend to notice your message about Playmation. I currently have the PLAYMATION product with the 24 bit render and Decal editor. The 24-bit render module is a MUST! I have found it to generate very realistic renderings. The spline based modeler…
