>> Any suggestions that don't involve a brush map?
From: Philip Grossblatt Animation Vendor A Forum · Impulse August 14, 1994 10:04 PM
Hi GreG! Got a question about using objects to particlize other objects (in the detail editor that is, not particle fx). Anyway, is there any way to make the particles retain any of their original attributes? In other words, if I map an image to a sphere, and use this as…
#95 #Welcome Imagineers! Message #123
From: Philip Grossblatt Animation Vendor A Forum · Impulse August 6, 1994 10:03 PM
GreG, What will be the relationship between the Imagine section here and the one over in Graphdev and the one in Amigaven? Will the others be phased out eventually? Just wondering, Phil.

I'll second that emotion about being able to escape from all those error messages! If you try to import a really screwed up mess of an object, you sometimes have to reboot instead of clicking "OK" a couple hundred times. Along the same lines, it would be nice to be…
#85729 Square path Message #85851

Marco, Go CDROM, and download Starvector's latest catalog- great prices on a lot of stuff. Phil.
#85677 Square path Message #85705
From: Philip Grossblatt Amiga Vendor Forum · Impulse July 3, 1994 10:42 PM
Peter, nope, it don't work! It looks square in one view, but in the others look like an infinity symbol. The corners are not square, ie 90 degrees, cause the path is a spline path. Thanx anyhow, Phil.

Marco- Corel 3.0 is what I've been using (~60$ on CD). I've been sucessfull in importing all the fonts I've tried so far, including ones I've made. Check out WINGED.JPG over on Graphdev- I used some really cool fonts to make stone idols. Phil.

From: Philip Grossblatt Amiga Vendor Forum · Impulse July 3, 1994 12:25 AM
Marco- Yeah, I started off building it out of pieces. Then I got the idea of making the X-section kind of complicated, like moulding. The path way also just seems more elegant. My other idea was to draw it in Corel, save it as a PostScript font, and bevel it in…
#Square path Message #85623
From: Philip Grossblatt Amiga Vendor Forum · Impulse July 2, 1994 11:21 PM
I'm trying to do something that I thought would be simple, but it's not working. I want to make a square path, to extrude a X-section along to make a picture frame. The problem: splines! When I make the path in the detail editor, I am unable to get square…
3ds2dxf Message #85173
From: Philip Grossblatt Amiga Vendor Forum · Impulse June 27, 1994 1:06 AM
Erich-don't get scared away from Graphdev, that's where all the real answers are. Got this from GreG, source of all Imagine/PC wisdom: 3DS2POV has a RAW output option. From there, you need RAW_DXF.BAS. This came with an earlier version of the POV Blob Modeller- GreG E-mailed me a copy, and…
Strange Tubes Message #81587
From: Philip Grossblatt Amiga Vendor Forum · Impulse May 11, 1994 12:53 AM
Bill, How 'bout extruding along a path? Either a disk, if you don't mind a rod instead of a tube, or you may be able to use a disk with the faces removed and make an actual tube.Check it out, Phil.

No, offense, but if he ran it through a spell checker, it's probably a completely different document now! , Phil.
VESA Message #80947
From: Philip Grossblatt Amiga Vendor Forum · Impulse May 2, 1994 6:55 PM
Ralph, have you tried Univesa? It's available somewhere here (search for VESA with IBMFF).It works great for Imagine, tho' for some reason it wigs out when I try to view flics.Anyway, check it out- it's a quick download, and better than a half-hour longdistance one from a videocard manufacturer's BBS!

I don't know if this is relevant to your thread about .PFB fonts, but there's a pretty easy way to use TrueType (or any other font): (You need a paint program that can load fonts) 1) On a fairly small canvas, type a letter(big). At least with version 2.9, this needs to…
#Texture Anim, 3.0 Message #80168
From: Philip Grossblatt Amiga Vendor Forum · Impulse April 24, 1994 12:58 PM
Steve, Yeah, I realized I could morph between objects, which works fine. It sure would be handy to use states tho'. BTW, it's not that states are incapable of storing these parameters, only that different states can't store different values. Lots of cool new textures in 3.0, tho' some (and the…

Glad you finally got that sucker shipped!!I know ya'll probably need a vacation, but there was a question I really needed to ask (first of many I'm sure). I can't seem to figure out how to animate those new textures (Beameup, etc.).I see the parameter that changes from 0 to…
24-bit flics Message #78006
From: Philip Grossblatt Amiga Vendor Forum · Impulse March 29, 1994 10:37 PM
Brad, actually, I forget your original question… The thing is, even though DTA can generate unusual resolutions and pixel depths, the included viewer, DFV, can play them all, even though AAPLAY, AAWIN, etc. might not know how to handle them. So, if all you're trying to do is build and…
#24- bit flics Message #77382
From: Philip Grossblatt Amiga Vendor Forum · Impulse March 21, 1994 10:22 PM
Peter, I must admit, they look a little jerky at 640×480 if there is a lot going on from frame to frame. At 320×200, even on my 486/33 they look completely smooth. One thing to remember, though, is that .flis, .flcs, etc. use delta compression:they only store the difference between each…

Brad, maybe I misunderstood the question, but if you want 24-bit flics, then get over to the Graphdev forum, and grab Dave's Targa Animator.I'm assuming from your question about Pentiums that you run Imagine on a PC). DTA can write flics in 8, 16, and 24-bits, and includes a viewer…
