James, I'll try and do that. My last attempt at importing everything used separate layers for each group of entities, which I exported to separate DXF files. I'll bring them in without "welding" and "unifying" and see what happens. Thanks! Bill
Christopher, Yeah, I'll have to pay attention as I create the stuff in AutoCAD. Now if I use the AutoCAD 3D* commands to create elements and then export those via DXF, will the appear correct, from all sides, within 3DS? Does the new v4 "fix" this problem, or is it…
Paul, Thanks to both you and Ted for filling me in on the 2-sided normals bit. At the moment, the model is pretty simple, so unifying the normals is not a big deal. I need to make sure that as I make the model more complex, though, that everything is…
Ted, Thanks for all the info. Right now the model is pretty simple, so I'll try forcing the rendering to 2-sided, but we'll have to see as I try to add more information. Bill
Hi folks! Does anyone have problems trasferring 3DFACE entities from AutoCAD r12c2 to 3D Studio via DXF? I've set up a simple series of faces to begin modeling the interior of an office in AutoCAD. The faces are all vertical walls – no goofy slanted surfaces or anything, and at…

Hi folks, I need a little help trying to generate an effect using both the Time and Optics tools. I'm trying to create a "spinning logo" that spins about the center of the X axis of a group of cels I've captured in the Cel buffer. What I want to…

Robert, I'm using a Dell GPX-1024 video card OEMed from Renaissance GRX. Dell supplies a TIGA 1.1 driver for the card, but I'm trying to find a TIGA 2.0 driver so that I can utilize the Panacea DLD driver. Are you aware of the existence of a TIGA 2.0 driver…

Tom, I hate to tell you this, but the size of the font file doesn't affect the size of the drawing file – only the text that you type within it. Just like a shape entity, only a "placeholder" for the shape is kept within the drawing database. When AutoCAD…

Richard, First of all, how 'bout NOT SHOUTING AT THE TOP OF YOUR LUNGS IN YOUR MESSAGE…please. |-) As per your question about the dimension Styles, nope, when you change the text style, the dimesion will use the new style, irregardless or what is "defined" by the dimension style. I'm…

Allan, All of us waiting with baited breath have wondered the same thing. So far, the only commitment has ben first quarter '92. Hopefully they can move it out quicker than that, but I think a lot of their resources are being redirected towards Windows (god only knows why). Bill
