>I must say, though, that my Amiga and it's affordable 3D software was one helluva education, though. What did you mean by that? I've never used an Amiga, but I've heard of LightWave. I'd be interested to hear how LightWave and 3DS compare, from someone who has used both. Thanks.
I have never used High palette. I always use Medium or Custom. Also, I have been using 320×200 exclusively to save time. If it only happened with one project file, I wouldn't be bothering you about it. Unfortunately, it has happened with most projects lately. I still can't predict when…
Gary, David, and John: Thanks for replying. I'm sure I'm not running out of disk space. My system is standalone – no network. An interesting point is that the problem can be fixed, temporarily at least, by resetting 3DS and merging everything from the bad project. David mentioned this worked…
Lately, 3DS has been giving me a lot of "Can't create Flic file" messages. What causes this message, and how can I fix it? Thanks. Pete
#92132 HELP! QEMM & Ani Pro Message #92801
David, Thanks for replying. Your solution worked for me. I removed QDPMI from my CONFIG.SYS, and Ani Pro runs again. I don't think I need QDPMI anyway. Pete
#91919 HELP! QEMM & Ani Pro Message #92800
Brian, Thanks for replying. The line that loaded QDPMI was causing the Abnormal Program Termination. Removing that line fixed the problem. Pete
#91866 HELP! QEMM & Ani Pro Message #92799
Steven, Thanks for replying. I tried excluding various ranges as you suggested, and it didn't help. The only thing that fixes the problem is removing QDPMI from CONFIG.SYS. My applications all run now, and I have 616 KB of RAM available. I guess I don't need QDPMI. Pete
HELP! QEMM & Ani Pro Message #91752
Hello All, I just installed QEMM, and now Animator Pro doesn't run. It says: Abnormal program termination: Illegal instruction CS:EIP = F000h:0000EA01h How can I get Ani Pro running with QEMM? Thanks. Pete
#89068 3ds.mli done gone! Message #89805
Gary, My 3DS.MLI mysteriously disappeared, too! Fortunately, copying MLI.BAK to 3DS.MLI seems to have restored all my materials. Did your 3DS.MLI just vanish by itself, or did you accidently delete it? Mine vanished by itself! Any idea what causes this? Pete
I have Mannequin. Are you familiar with it? I wonder how it compares to HUMANOID. Please tell me how to contact the company that makes HUMANOID. I am disappointed with the Mannequin's hands. The fingers have ugly gaps and overlaps. Does HUMANOID do nice hands?

I would like to create a stereotypical Old West shootout scene, as seen in countless Westerns such as High Noon and Back to the Future III. Does anyone already have such geometry that I could buy? If not, would anyone like to create all or part of the geometry for…
NAVIGATOR ??? Message #37305
Does anyone have info on the Virtual Environment NAVIGATOR mentioned in the CDK press release?
>Planar mapping will always 'shine' thru the other side on the object level, unless you detach faces into elements. Depending on the geometry, you might detach just the faces that will contain the decal, reattach the faces, and apply your map on the element level. Sometimes it is worthwhile to…
#36080 #Deform/Fit bug Message #36185
From: Peter Campbell Autodesk Software Forum · Autodesk 3D Studio February 28, 1993 10:49 PM
>Peter, the Fit tool really requires you to have a valid shape in both the X >and the Y Fit windows. When you only put one in the Y window and try to >loft the object, it goes outside of the boundaries of what the fit algorithm >can do. We…
Hi All, I want to be able to put a decal on a sphere or cylinder and not have it show through to the back side. The object must remain smooth – no seams allowed. How would you accomplish this feat? Thanks. Pete
From: Peter Campbell Autodesk Software Forum · Autodesk 3D Studio February 23, 1993 12:03 PM
Hello All, I want to create a cylinder with a hemispherical end, and I want it to be perfectly smooth, with no seams or other visible imperfections. Sounds easy, but I've tried everything I can think of, and I still can't get it right. Can it be done in 3D…
