Mike, Since I have a normal hard drive with better access speed, I didn't want to make it my boot drive, and it doesn't seem work as an auto-mount drive. Actually I trashed my AP partition while working on getting it to auto-mount. Soooo, since it is working, I probably…

Mike, Thanks for the hint to use the quick option ( smaking myself for not thinking of it ), the disk now appears usable. Darn thing still doesn't auto-mount, is it posible or must you use a mount command? It does seems to handle disk changes alright at least.

Well, now I get my 3000 to recognize the Syquest as ID 1 by using a MOUNT command using a mount file generated by RDPrep. But, when I try to FORMAT the drive it reports a format failure, and always in different places each time I try. I've tried reselection…

I was wondering if there was anyone out there who has a SyQuest 44 drive working with a 3000. HDToolBox recognizes the drive and can read the drive information so I'm pretty sure I have the termination right. I followed the normal steps of low-level format, verify and format, but…

Clint, My understanding of the Atari sale/split was that Tramial got the Atari peices that produced Computers and home game consols, while the remaining part that makes arcade games – the most profitable part of Atari at the time of the sale – is owned by someone else (Time-Warner I…

Manfred Actually, I thought it was possible to create a scsi network connecting two computers to a scsi chain allowing both to access a single device. Obviously the controllers would have to have different adresses, and only one could write to the drive at a time, but a CD-ROM would…

There is some sci-fi that is willing to stay closer to the bean the ST. Example is the Alien series of movies, they accepted that star travel would be a long haul proposition, and therefore put their crews in cryogenic sleep. Same situation in 2001, HAL ran the ship while…

This all assumes space is a field, which I may be willing to concede. But, if it is a feild, and the Warp drives can bend and distort it, wouldn't that disrupt gravity to a significant degree? If a sub could generate a tube of air, and stay suspended in…

I would certainly hope they would reach the ultimate level of recycling – the re-use of matter for energy back to usable matter. I must admit though I hadn't thought of that though. But even then, I would assume converting the matter to energy would use energy, but it would…

Actually both of you are incorrect. Mass and energy are equivalent, they are not interchangable. A photon particle has an equivalent mass, but it still doesn't have mass, so you can't say they are interchangable as that implies they are the same, they are not. When a photon of ENERGY…
