DMCS tirade pt 2
Message #44823
Steve, I've been playing with a pre-release version of DMCS since about Dec. 10 and have a lot of reservations about it. I can't believe that I waited a year for THIS! I'm not going to rant about it YET, but the bottom line is that the code is 303K…

I doubt that these guys are interested in using the 5.25's for anything other than semi-permanent storage under AmigaDOS. They are not the least bit fond of MS-DOS. They stick a SYS: disk in one and a compiler disk in the other and then have two 3.5's free for source…

Bela, this is not referring to the time loss, but a comment on the 5.25" drive under AmigaDOS. I know several Amiga users (NCR Engineers) who have constructed dual 5.25 add on drives that run under AmigaDOS and format 5.25" diskettes to 880K. These are drives that are call quad…

Bela, I talked to NUMEROUS people at NEC and all seemed like idiots to me. I finally got a little info on the monitor but when I asked about NEC 3.5" drive assemblies, they went "HUH? Our drives aren't compatible with THAT computer!". I then informed them that their drives…

Bela, since I know one of your favorite subjects is monitors… I'd like to know if you have seen an Amiga hooked up to a NEC "MultiSync"? I have a customer/friend that wants a better monitor for his Amiga, and has seen the NEC hooked to a "juiced-up" PC. He…

Amiga Price reduction

Andy – Mine does the same thing and when I first got it I was quite bothered by it… time goes by and I hardly notice it anymore. The other advantages of the KV1311CR over the 1080 monitor make up for that drawback in my mine. Interestingly we don't sell…

Bela – I have a SONY KV1311CR that I bought for 2 reasons: 1 you and others on CIS convinced me with your discussion that it was a wise choice and 2 my wife said,"OH if it's a great TV I'll pay half." We were told by distribution that the…

Jay, I tested thZMOZ terminal in TTY for speed of screen output and I found it to be the fastest that I have seen on the Amiga so far… most others will get behind at 1200 baud and drop characters. All in all, I think GIZMOZ is a fine product.…

Steve – What do you know about the "new release" of AmigaBASIC? I talked with ABSOFT today and they say their AC/BASIC which is a compiler for AmigaBASIC is "officially sanctioned" by MS. Bad news is the $295 price and the June/July release date. Doug

I think that it has to do with IFF files that are not PACKed. Dpslide doesn't like unPACKed IFF files so running them thru Dpaint packs them if they weren't already, and all is well. Doug

Bob, I have since been told that it is a pre-release version that I have and not yet being distributed. I got it from my Tech Rep who has no answers to most of my questions. The main worry I have is that it still runs under the same buggy…

Bob, I tried to leave a long message but a bum finger and filge combined to make it tuff. I have had AmigaBASIC from MS for a week now. My dealer gave it to me as an upgrade and said that all of us would get it at no cost.…
