Thanks Don, I'll try those suggestions.
Flashing Startup Screen
Message #15976
Hi, I have an Amiga 2000 that wont boot anymore. The screen alternates between a dark and light gray colour, what those it mean?
They are advertising 1.5 in the April AmigaWorld, so hopefully we will get what we paid for shortly.
CanDo 1.5
Message #8182
Does anybody know waht's happening with V1.5 of CanDo? It was annouced a long time ago (before christmas) and I immediately ordered the upgrade, but I never heard anything since.
Hi Scott, you certainly have a good point there. I could get by with my Ami for evrything except spreadsheets, so I'm using Quatro Pro on a BridgeBoard. I haven't checked SuperBase yet, but I heard the upcoming V4.0 will be quite nice. I gave up on accounting software for…
Mike, I do have an A-MaxII around here somewhere, but I haven't found MAc ROMs yet, and I know nothing about MAC software, any package you'd suggest? Sylvain Duford Mega Computer Services

Which Spreadsheet ??
Message #13945
I have Advantage, and I must say that the latest version is pretty good and stable, the best I've seen on Amiga. But it's a far cry from the Quatro Pro I'm using on my BridgeBoard, and I thought my Amiga was the graphics machine, not the other way around.…

Business Accounting
Message #13944
You sure have a point there, I just got the February Amazing Amiga. The front cover suggest that it's a business special, but alas, the only reviews are about Gold Disk Office, BGraphics, and Desktop Budget. Hardly serious business coverage in my book.

#Business Accounting
Message #13943
Mike, I already have a 386 clone to run an order fullfilling program. I could use it to do my accounting, but that would mean doing it after hours. I also have an XT BridgeBoard, but that is unacceptably slow. So I would definitely like to do my accouting on…
Audio Digitizer ?
Message #9715
I would definitely be interested Bill.
#Nexus HardCard
Message #9562
Has anybody here experimented with the new Nexus HardCard from Preffered Technologies? It looks like a very nice package on paper, but I hate to be the first to try out something.
Sounds reasonable. AMAS works well for sampling, but the editor is kind of unstable. I guess editing the IFF output would be good enough for me, thanks for the reply.
Does AudioMaster work with A.M.A.S.? The software that came with AMAS gurus a lot, and I would like to upgrade. Sylvain, Portage, Manitoba
#HardCards for 2000
Message #7880
HH I wonder why? 😉 Tell me what is so good about it, and what kind of performance I would get with a Q80 on a 2500-20. Sylvain, Portage, Manitoba
Thanks Mike, that's a good idea. The FlickerFixer uses a 15 pin connector, just like the VGA card. Sylvain, Portage, Manitoba
#Monitor Switch Box
Message #7708
I have an NEC 3D monitor, and I just ordered a VGA card for my BridgeBoard. Where could I find the proper switch box to allow me to use my monitor with both my FlickerFixer and the BB/VGA ?
I've said this before, and I repeat it again, avoid MCS like the plague! I ordered some hardware from them 2 years ago and never got (only $125). I wrote to them, I called them, I even had a CIS user who lives nearby go rattle their cage, nothing worked.…
HardCards for 2000
Message #7548
I'm planning to upgrade my 2090A/Rodime 44 megs to a hardcard with Quantum 105 megs. I've been looking at the GVP HC2 but now the new Trumpcard Professional looks very interesting. Any suggestions out there as to which one is best? Sylvain, Portage, Manitoba
Steve I had the same problem your having, the only way I could prep my Quantum with the A2090A was by using 834 Cylinders (0 to 833), 6 surfaces, 17 blocks per track. This yields only 39 megs. Make sure you check your SCSI cable closely, as mine had 3…
Thanks a lot for the help Dan! I just added your name to my Whap! phone book. I've ordered the Compute! book today. Is the Aztec assembler a good one to use as a stand-alone asm? Sylvain, Portage, Manitoba
Thanks for the reply Betty. Are you talking about ASM68K ? I think I might have it somewhere in one of those miilion floppies. What's the name of the debugger? I will order the Compute! book right, I figured it was probably the best one, as usual. Sylvain, Portage, Manitoba
#Amiga Assemblers
Message #3349
I would like to try and do some assembly programming on my Ami, so I'm looking for some suggestions as to which assembler to buy, and which Amiga Assembler book is the best (I already have a 680×0 programming book and the Manx assembler). Thanks in advance for any comments/suggestions.…
Thanks for the info Thomas, I guess I'll stay away from it then. too bad because I want to learn C++, I guess I'll have to buy another Messy-DOS package. Sylvain, Portage, Manitoba
Lattice/SAS C++ ??
Message #1599
I'm looking for some info on the Lattice C++ package. Is it any good? Is it stable? Is it still supported? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks, Sylvain, Portage, Manitoba
Well, I just started working on one. You will have to enter the different airports along your intended route, the wind, true airspeed, and fuel consumption. The program will then calculate the distance, groundspeed, time enroute, true tracks, heading and fuel required for the trip. It will keep a database…

Fuzzy display
Message #117626
Thanks Ray, it was the FlickerFixer adjustment like you suggested. I also have a 2500 and an NEC 3D, and I managed to take out all the fuzziness. The reason why I didn't think this could be the problem, is because it would disappear after a few minutes, also I…

Tiger Cub
Message #37458
I have Tiger Cub and like it very much. I'm using it on an A2500-20 with 7 megs, never had a crash yet. *** SLY ***
X-CAD Professionnal read and writes AUTOCAD DXF files,so he could transfer the drawings back and forth between Amiga and IBM disks. *** SLY ***
Thanks Tom, I'm sealing the floppy mailer right now! *** SLY ***
My version of DesktopBudget is dated January 89, how do I get the newest version? Also is there an update coming for Advantage? it's sorely needed. *** SLY ***

M2S Support
Message #17053
'The guy from M2S' I assume you are talking about Martin Taillefer here. He was (and still is) in fact working on some very interesting new stuff. Unfortunately, he was only aan employee, working from his home in a location that was very remote from M2S, and he had no…
Hi Wayne, sounds good, I can't wait to see what he comes up with. I already applied your fix to the LongRealConversions and the RealConversions modules, works like a charm. Thanks! *** SLY ***
This is great news Harry, I'll see if I can get his number, I just changed address, so it would definitely be nice to call Martin and get on his mailing list. *** SLY ***
Martin was aware of the problems, and was in the process of removing all the ARP stuff, he had already removed a large part of it between 1.0 and 1.1. *** SLY ***
That's too bad Wayne. I wish we hadn't been left in the dust when the company changed hands. From what I heard here, Martin is about to come out with an other Modula-2, probably based on the V2.0 he was working on when he left. I hope we'll get an…
Thanks for the tricks Jim, I'll experiment with that. *** SLY ***
Pen # in menus
Message #104999
Is it possible to modify which pen number is used to highlight menus? I just switched my program from 2 bit planes to 3, so I could get more colors for the graphics. But now the menus when highlighted, use pens 6 and 7, with ugly results. I'd like to…
I'm sorry to hear that M2Sprint is not working out for you. Personnaly I really like it, but I can't wait to see what Martin will come up with next! *** SLY ***
Don, I finally got it going. Here's a resume of all the problems/errors I had to correct. The first one was that several lines were shorted on the ribbon cable connector (and I paid $30 for the damn thing!), once that was solved the drive PREPed properly. Then I had…
Wayne, you obviously don't have the latest REAL modules. If I remember well, the corrected version is in the M2S lib in AmigaVend. As too the strings I'm not sure what it is you're trying to do, but I don't have any problems with them. I find M2Sprint provides a…
Hi Peter, thanks for your help, my HD now preps and dh2: formats, however, it doesn't want to format the second partition. Sylvain
Don, the '#' problem was a formatting one. BufMemType = 4 works, that's what I use for my other HD ( I have 6 megs of fastram). And it now works with all the jumpers out. There still was a problem with my cable. I now made sure that all…
I don't know for sure. I think that in version 1.1, Martin took all the ARP stuff out of M2E. Somebody would have to try it to know for sure. I was just told that the ARP requester would break, I didn't personnaly try it, as I have only a…
It's for my SpeakerTools program, which is going commercial with version 2.0, but they want all the ARP stuff out of it, mainly because it will break with ADOS 2.0. ylvain
Thanks, I'll try that jumper setting. Sylvain
Here's my new mountlist: RES2: Device = hddisk.device Unit = 3 Flags = 0 Surfaces = 6 BlocksPerTrack = 17 Reserved = 2 LowCyl = 0 ; HighCyl = 1 Buffers = 1 BufMemType = 4 # Sylvain
I removed the EP jumper, still no go… This is starting to make me nervous. What should the surfaces and cylinders numbers be for the res2: entry? I', using 6 and 17, but I'm not sure if that's right. I'll recheck my cable to make sure all the lines are…
OK, did all this, still doesn't want to PREP. Now the device doesn't even show when I do an INFO after mounting it. HELP!!!! Sylvain
OK, I'm not sure how to do this, and I didn't get any docs with the drive. There is 2 sets of jumpers that I can see one goes like this: SS EP WS , there's a jumper on EP the other one is: A2 A1 A0 there is jumper…
OK, I solved part of the problem now. The cable was improperly set into the connector, so pins 1 and 2 were shorted. I fixed the cable, so now the computer boots, I mount res2: than when I try 'prep res2:' I get a 'drive no PREPed msg after a…
