My only experience with CD+G right now is that my son's Sega Genesis CD-ROM came with at least one CD+G disc — they slowly cycle through some fairly basic graphics as the music plays. The Hendryx cut is my favorite.

Don't overestimate the difficulty of doing demos with a portable CD-ROM system. I do it all the time. My latest system is an NCR 3170 Safari sub-notebook computer with a cable-attached battery operated CD-ROM drive — the CD-ROM drive is bigger than the computer!

The only one I know about is a device called the DIGISPEECH. It works fine but unfortunately is shaped like a small pyramid — very un-portable — and is not battery operated.

Yes, the CDR-36 is faster, noticeably so, but I don't have any exact numbers to quote you.
