Does it matter what font you are printing with? There are some differences between the courier fonts on the IIP and 5P. Do a font print out and see what you get.
I am not familiar with OSF v.3.0. HP doesn't list this operating system as one that is supported with JetDirect.

So is it that you only want to connect the LJ4P, not a JetDirect? I know of no drivers that are supplied by hp for OS9. You may have to check with the vendor of the operating system to see if they offer any solutions.
It is in section (12) since I moved it. It was in the general section at first. No problem — that's why they give the magic wands to the sysop, so it is relatively pain-free .

You might try some of the basic sound files that Windows provides like the beep or chime. If these aren't working when you run the test from the sound area of the control panel — then Windows isn't recognizing the sound driver correctly.
