PVR Help
Message #196483
Hi Guys and Gals…I am going to compile a list of all motherboards that work with the Perception. I am aware that other people like Doug H and Mike L are working on this sort of thing too, but I want to go at this from a slightly different angle.…
Hi Martin. I am glad you are interested in our Product. Please forward me your phone number so I can have someone call you re: Speed Razor! Kind Regards, Eron
Martin, I am just wondering about something: Does the Discus output files to the SGI file format? If so, then couldn't you do your capturing on the SGI and then send the files over the network to your PVR drive as SGIs. Since the SGIs will automatically be converted to…
#PVR Survey
Message #196307
Hi. I am trying to compile a list of motherboards which can be used with the Perception Video Recorder. Anyone out there who already has a PVR knows that its not a straightforward task to find a motherboard that will be able to house the PVR's full-length PCI cards. What…
One of the coolest things we have going OS wise at in:sync right now is a couple of PowerPC 604s running Windows NT underpinnings with the Windows '95 interface. Its really great.
Mike a great way to fix the computer-2-feet-away-from-the-wall-because-of-too-many-dongles is to just buy a serial or parallel cable and connect it before the dongles. That way your dongles wind up on the floor. Eron insync tech support
Hi Gary…Razor Pro 2.0 (and soon Speed Razor Mach III) has no problem whatsoever accessing either PAR drive… Render away! Eron in:sync Tech Support
I think I know what might be going wrong Gary. You have to check your final output settings. Be sure you have set Razor output to .PRJ file and also be sure the AUDIO check box is checked. If you still have your output settings set to ANI Razor won't…
Hi, I want to clarify a few things here about Razor and the PAR. >The main reason I was asking about whether or not a TBC is needed to record >animations composited in Razor, is that a technical support rep at in:sync >explained to me that the TBC was necessary…
I have heard of people having trouble getting the AWE32 working under NT too, so this may not be a viable soultion. I will try to get you a phone number for the Card D+… (If you want it right away, call me or anyone at insync on our 800…
There are only a few good reasonably priced sound cards out there for use under Windows 3.1. My 3 favorites are Digital Audio Labs Card D+, Roland RAP 10, and Turtle Beach. The best tech support was with the Card D+, its great, whenever I call there (mostly to pester…
My $.02: Speed Razor will work great with the PVR and the Targa 2000 under NT. The Targa 2000 PCI Pro is a very nice card. One of the biggest differences between the Targa and the PVR is that with the PVR audio is handled seperately and is stored on…
#Par card / networks
Message #187551
I am pretty sure that there is a known bug that the PAR doesn't work happily in a novell networked computer…I am not sure what the fix is though. Eron
Michael, You can always give a call on in:sync's 1-800-864-7272 number to ask about local dealers. Maybe someone here can recommend their dealer though. Eron
Mark at in:sync we keep our machines open with 2 or 3 fans blowing directly on the drives. I have heard of people adding heat sinks to their drives and doing all sorts of other interesting things (Haven't heard of anyone watercooling them yet though 🙂 )
Hi Tim. I have installed the NT PVR software at least 25 times now, and I am becoming an expert on it . We had Perception machines all over our booth at SIGGRAPH (in:sync) There are a few things you need to check out. First of all, the latest version…
ARA, I am no expert on Premier and the PAR codec, but I am pretty sure that you ought to be able to edit together clips captured with varying Q factors. Were there certain clips you had trouble with or did they all come up scrabled. Sometimes if the recorded…
Darrin, I am sorry we missed each other. Our week in LA was incredibly successful. I have been deluged with calls for technical information about Speed Razor. We have some great stuff coming out. I agree with Jamie. It was great to actually SEE people instead of just knowing their…
Glad I could help you Thomas. Good luck! eron in:sync technical support
Thomas, Although I am not an expert on Premier, it sounds like for some reason Premier isn't able to talk properly to your Perception card when it wants to write. It could be alot of things causing this. Sometimes the mirror directory gets messed up, and so files can't be…

Darrin Sabin Said: >I'll have to "second" that notion regarding Eron (and Jamie also). No matter how >angry I've been in the past with getting RP to work, talking to either of them always >soothes me. Another plus is: once in awhile, late at night, I'll call their office on…
Tim, To do capturing with the PVR you do need a daughtercard add-on which includes a Time Base Corrector. Stop by the in:sync booth at siggraph and I will show you what a great job it does! Eron
One of my favorite graphics cards, and the one I recommend to Razor Pro users who ask is the #9GXE or IMAGINE 128. Both or pretty good cards. I also like the Diamond Stealth 64 VRAM. I think there was a pretty good review of graphics cards in PC World…
Yes, Alec, I have noticed this problem too…as far as I know, short of keeping to a certain zoom level, single frames can go out of sight. I will point this out to the programmers and have that fixed in a future version of Razor. Thanks. Eron
Hi Gary. Indeed you should be able to just put the .TGA on the timeline and stretch it. Many times what happens is that people will have an "accidental" series of .TGAs. When Razor sees a series such as "TEST1.TGA", "TEST2.TGA", "TEST3.TGA", etc…It will always pull them in as a…
Thanks for the compliments Brendan. We are really working hard to try to cover every base. Speed Razor will be here soon. Eron
Hey guys! For your information, I am posting this memo I took of the DPS ftp site (Yes, they have one, its noted below.) I hope this is helpful. This is being posted verbatim and without the permission of DPS: M E M O TO All DPS Dealers and Customers…
Christie, If you still can't get this problem solved let me know. I am in charge of technical support for in:sync. I think so far Mike has given you some great advice, but the preview problem may need more attention. Regards, Eron
