Oh I don't think I oversimplified the Toaster hardware. An you are very
wrong in the statement that "if there were an easy way someone would have
done…" What is easy for an Engineer to design is NOT allways easy to
convince a Marketing or Sales department to bring to market. I can assure
you. I see a lot of very amazing hardware every year that never gets to the
consumer. The Hardware engineering is not that difficult. And I think the
term "broadcast ready" has been used a bit too much. RS-170 compliance is
not a very difficult thing to do. But what seems to be VERY difficult to
do is convince the "powers at be" in the PC world that such a device is
needed. Remember, the PC marketing world depends upon a much greater number
of sales per product than the Amiga market does. I guess the visual
qualities of the Toaster and / or Matrox / Targa boards are in the eyes of
the beholder. I didn't like the first Matrox I saw. It was early
engineering run with a lot of wires. But it does work very well.
