Even though I have access to some nifty equipment, I have had to try for low
cost solutions for certain projects as well.
One trick that I have done to make my walkthrough animations look better is to
render the first and last frames of the animation on a targa or whatever at a
high resolution and true color (you can send a still image out to tape without
a frame controller or special deck), and put those frames at the beginning and
end of a VGA animation put to tape through a VGA>NTSC converter. The still
images are only when people notice detail and colors and stuff, when the
picture is moving you can get away with murder (at least to a point…).
Hope this helps, or at least gives you some ideas.
