#block used twice
I would appreciate any ideas on the following problem with a Quantum 105Mb HD
driven by a Trumpcard Pro in a 2000.
I bought this set-up used and have yet to get it working.
(I am a rank beginner who has yet to figure out many of these arcanities like
'mountlist' and invisible directories that contain necessary files.)
When I use the utilities that came with the Trumpcard, after some tangling with
severe looking flashing red messages I was seemingly able to get the hd
reformatted. I checked all the options including 'low level format'. The volume
name changed indicating something was happening, but the thing won't boot
itself or even appear on the workbench. When I try to let it reboot itself, a
message come up saying "error validating UnTitled, block 153226 used twice".
IVS has only suggested reformatting from a diskette boot, but this doesn't work
at all as it can't see the Quantum drive.
There is also a GVP series II accelerator with a 40Mb hd which is working ok
(miracle!!).
Any recommendations on books that clarify the deep dark secrets would be most
welcome. It would make a nifty upload if someone who has traveled the road from
IBM or MAC to/from Amiga could post a 'translation chart'. I have a feeling
that there are some equivalents like "config.sys=devs:(contents)" or something
like that.
Thank you in advance for any advice on the 'block used twice' message. Scott
