Charles,
I'm not talking about using the existing Amiga chipset or the handy
extenders like HAM-E,DCTV, and Colorburst. In fact, I'm not thinking of
using chip ram either. What I had in mind was about 600 megabytes of RAM.
When the 16megabit chips become widely available, that much RAM could be
squeezed into 300 chips -say 5 Zorro III cards. The deep color display card
would have access to this RAM in place of the usual display memory on those
cards. Then the system could preload all of the frames and let the
Toaster/IV24/Firecracker etc. do the page flipping. I suppose it would
still be cheaper to get a single-frame VCR, but chip prices generally fall.
