Martin: Please try to take some of the heat your getting with a grain of salt… you have to understand that most of us who use the Amiga have chosen it because we've had experience working with other desktop platforms (?) and find them very limiting when compared with AmigaDos, while non Amiga users have no experience with it, and usually have some misconceptions. That's not to say that other systems don't do their intended jobs very well; it just illustrates that AmigaDos and the multitasking environment in which it resides, makes doing a lot of creative things much easier for us. If you get a hostile reply to something you said, it's usally because someone picked up on it in the middle of the thread, and just reacted. We're kinda used to Mac folk dropping in here once in awhile to do nothing but 'flame' the Amiga. PLEASE don't take it personally… remember that this is a scrolling message base! One other thing we tend to forget here, is that, just as the upgrades to AmigaDos have done their best to keep downward comapatibility with older versions, MSDOS has done the same, and since the MSDOS operating system is 5 years older, and has an installed base something like 35 times that of the Amiga, to a certain degree, IBM & MicroSoft have hand their hands tied… you can't just leave that many installed machines in the dust with a new operating system or hardware environment that breaks ALL of the old software at once. Yes, we do tend to hate MicroSoft and IBM for saddling the world with what we feel is an antiquated computing system, and trying to 'fix' it with kludges like Windows… but hey, the success of msdos has been its biggest nemesis… and we tend to forget that. <Amiga users: please don't take offense at the "we"s & "our"s… if you disagree, and I'm sure that some of you do, speak up!> – Whapp!ng from the North Coast Michael
