(I changed the thread name, and area) I agree that Doom is the best pseudo VR around (for P.O.V. stuff). I'm not much into flight sims, but I've heard that Falcon is good. I'm anxiously awaiting Mechwarrior II. It is a sim of sorts, with an instant action play, with up to 6 mech's (robot type things) in the action. Two of the six could be people. You can play "my team vs. your team" or "our team vs. "the computer team" You can choose your mech you want, and it's weapons configuration. I believe there are 15 mechs in the stock game to choose from, and there will probably be an add-on disk for others. It will support modem play and serial play. I'm not sure about network play though. I'm hoping that they will develop the network capabilities, with the ability to have more than 2 players.. Either way, the graphics are great, and I understand it to be competitive in graphics/play with the various Battletech based VR places around, except for the # of players. Definately a noteworthy distraction. 🙂 Good VR + other players/participants is really fun. I'd love to run & develop a VR recreation center. Has anyone played Nettrek? (Star Trek based Internet game) I'm sure it's very interesting too, but the graphics seem pretty weak. I'd suggest, to anyone who hasn't played to download doom1.2, (and the sersetup replacement for modem play) in the Gamers/Action area, and play with your workmates or friends. Especially if you have a sound card, or an available multiuser network. It gives a good idea on where VR is going. (the graphics and play) It's a scary game, but fun to see your friend running around in front of you. You can even chat, make plans, etc. 🙂 I won't buy the full version though, I think it's too "dark". I've talked to the head of id games about the content but he doesn't seem to have a problem with it's gory and occultic theme. Oh well, that's his choice, but I'd love to know what sociologists and psychiatrists are saying about it. It's pretty potent. I'd love to see all that creativity directed a bit more responsibly. I'm doing a paper on gaming, and it's effects but have not found any significant research done on it. Well, enough rambling, back to wireframe VR.. <g> Hmm.. how does the Autodesk VR stand up? Has anyone used it? Would it be possible to implement a VR game/world for multiusers with it? What kind of graphics hardware is required? How does it compare to Doom in realism? Whew! – this is finally the end of the message.. <g> JNJ
