I don't mean to overstate this and further hurt the C= market, but the lack of a decent monitor for the Amiga 4000 is not a trivial matter. I'd been putting off buying the Amiga 4000 until the 1942 monitor became available again… after March 15 by all announcements. Prior to this time, alternate monitors were available, but at triple or more of the 1942's price. Yesterday, I made some phone calls to the mail- order Amiga dealers (since none are within driving range) and I was frankly alarmed by the responses: SafeHarbor: (one of the more reliable mail-order houses in my experience) "We have absolutely no Amiga 4000 compatible monitors in stock, but are hoping to have something soon." ComputAbility: ("One of Wisconsin's Top 10 Women owned Businesses"…I'd love to hear Rush Limbaugh comment on that one….) "Sure! Any old SVGA monitor will work with the Amiga 4000." (My understanding is that this is an incredibly huge falsehood.) Creative Computers: "Nope! No compatible monitors here." Let me get this straight… C= is trying to sell Amigas, except that you really can't buy a monitor for your new Amiga, so you'll just have to use it as a 2 and 1/2 grand door stop until one arrives. I sure hope CD32 is selling, because C= is certainly not generating any money with Amigas! I've seen the ads in AmigaWorld for a new 4000 compatible monitor, but no one seems to be stocking it yet. It sounds promising, but until it's on the shelves, its no more helpful than all of those wonderful, but non-existent Opalvision modules which have been advertised for a couple of years now. Excuse my negative tone, but I'm getting a tad worried. Can anyone shed any light on this?
