CD-vs-CD
Thanks for the info on the portable CD-I and its variants. The car
version is especially important. If CD-I comes with their car before
they have a home system, which CD Platform do you suppose they will
buy for home use?
I'm not sure that corporate use of these machines will have any great
effect on the home user. There is no way to pirate the corporate
titles except by outright theft of the disk, and I can think of no
other reason to buy the same model as at work.
CD-I has been around longer than the competing platforms, and has a
distinct advantage in name recognition. The infomercials help, people
actually do watch those things! I think we'll see more from the other
manufacturers as well.
I haven't seen any CD-I displays at the local record and video stores
lately, they seem to have disappeared.
