Well, you are right. It is certainly not necessary to have a SGI to make good things. You could do everything (and maybe more) right on the desktop level. I think it's gonna be a tough business for SGI en partners. I see you are equipped well, a PAR a rendering plant, storage capabilities… We certainly have to stay in touch :-))) About half a year ago I switched from Amiga to PC. Sold my overbuild A500 and bought myself a Pentium, and until now I love the PC. Bit by bit I expanded, got 32 Megs know, a SyQuest 270 storage media and the necessary software to do it. A few days ago I finished my first serious project. It's one off my three graduating projects. This was a promo for the Institute of Visual Communication itself. I succeed to morph 5 persons quite well with Elastic Reality and combined some animations from 3DS on it. Looks very good, even if I have to say so for myself ;-). The big problem was getting al this to Betacam. This time I was lucky and got some facilities, a Mac with a Digital Magic Video card. Something like the PAR but much more expensive and so far as I heard also better. You can hook up to six SCSI disks on it for storage. This one had three disks of 2 Meg containing a total of 18 minutes maximum quality video. Digital Magic is available in different environments, fully digital, component and composite. The big disadvantage I had was transferring my Targa files from DOS to a MAC Hd. Some DOS SyQuest could be read by the MAC OS 7.5 but others didn't. I still don't know why. Lucky I had MACSEE for the PC so I hooked up a MAC disk on my PC an transferred it that way. I still had to do some tricks with Norton disk doctor to get all of my files on the Digital Magic but in the end I succeed, Pfwww ! You were talking about a user group. Is this a user group for 3D Studio itself or more for the architectural business ? If you want you may send me you're promotional pamphlet which you created. I am very curious about it.
