Hi Paul, >> I want to see the same participatory video programming. Something that dynamically changes due to subscriber contribution. Nearly all of the people touched by video today do absolutely nothing but observe. I say, twist your own knobs. << And I think you will see it in the not to distant future. I don't know about your area, but here in San Diego the cable companies are putting Fiber Optic in the ground quicker that Judge Ito can say " SIDE BAR" :-)) I know this because in addition to running my own home based production company, I also work for a local contractor that deals in undeground comunication utillities. We are up to are eyeballs in Fiber work. I think the first think you will see is an increase in the amount of chanels available to the cable subscriber. Very soon you will see more special interest channels than you can shake a stick at. You will see things like the all fishing cahannel, or the all sewing channel or…..well you get the idea. I think this also will drive the quality down. With all the channels that will be out there programers will be starved for anything to fill air time, you can only be so pickey when you are faced with dead air. Now the $64,000 dollar question on all of this is, how are advertisers going to handel this vast aray of channels??? Of course this will be a much better way to target a specific market ie. if you sell sewing thread, the sewing channel would be a great place to advertise. But on the other hand if you sell a product that appeals to the mass market ( for instance automobiles or furniture ) I wounder how those folks will deal with the massive spread out of market share over say a 500 channel system?? If anyone has any ideas on this one I would love to hear them. >> Using a cheap camcorder, Terry inserted creative messages from mommy and daddy into the taped programs. Everything from how to brush your teeth; to picking up your dirty clothes; to turning off the light when you leave the bathroom are demonstrated and reinforced. << Now that is a great idea. Sound like somthing right out of Dr. Pavlovs handbook. Does it go somthing like this??? I love you you love me Brush your teeth you little kiddies With a great big hug And pick up your dirty clothes When you come in the house Make sure the door is closed :-)))))) Sometimes I just crack myself up :-)))))) Regards, Michael W.
