Tim: I'd have to agree with John, 5-10 years is too long. I've heard numbers from SMPTE people that suggest that even today more than 60% of all off-line editing is done on a non-linear system. Non-linear on-line editing use, both industrial and professional, is nowhere near that mark but is moving up. (I'll confirm that it's official and come back on line…) It does suggest, though, that digital technology is being thoroughly embraced. Tim, you may be right about it taking that long for digital acquisition to become commonplace. Ikegame and AVID have been working on the digital dockable camera for a while now, but that is still quite cutting edge, IMHO. Jeff Sauer
