Doug, The easiest way is to put the tape in the 1970, and hit record with no
signal input. You will end up with a blank tape, and control markers will be
on the same machine you will do the final on. I have been doing this for
several year on my 1960's and for a year on the 1970. It works well and save
your camera wear and tear.
