Karl, <and Paul> I must take issue with you when you say that the "Current Russian planes are equal or better than the F-15 Eagle". They have never been, nor will they ever be. and the reason for this is simple…"Avionics". The Russians have always been about 10 to 15 years behind the U.S. in electronics, and yes, that is because of R&D. The MIG 29 Fulcrum is a prime example. That plane is comparible to the F-15 in terms of design…I.E. weight, speed, size, and flying ceiling. The difference comes in the form of AVIONICS, lacking up to date avionics is the main reason that they can still afford to build and sell them around the world. The pilots that fly them still have to manualy pick targets, somthing that our pilots have not had to do in about 20 years. In my, and most experts, opinion, the American equipment has always been supperior to the competition for the sole reason of R&D like StarWars. If we do not do this R&D and build "atleast" some prototypes then we WILL fall behind. And that is something that I am willing to pay for to keep from happening. —Stephen— ===On AutoPilot 1.77–With Intel "All over my desk"===
