Sync 4-track tape
What type of SYNC input/output does the Tascam support? You may need to get
a MIDI interface with a separate SYNC I/O to be compatable. Depending on
your needs and the recorder, you might have to get into SMPTE. (not cheap)
I believe that you have to use one of the available 4 tracks to record
timing information, and then drive your sequencer program from the external
SYNC source. You're actually SYNC'ing the sequencer program to the recorder
when you lay down the extra tracks.
Bars & Pipes and Music-X are high powered sequencers that support external
sync functions.
I've not had any experience working with a multi-track recorder, so there
might be some holes in my explanation. (I'm able to satisfy my needs so far
without a multi-track recorder.) I'll check further into it for you if
you'll supply the Tascam model number.
