Sync 4-track tape

What type of SYNC input/output does the Tascam support? You may need to get
a MIDI interface with a separate SYNC I/O to be compatable. Depending on
your needs and the recorder, you might have to get into SMPTE. (not cheap)
I believe that you have to use one of the available 4 tracks to record
timing information, and then drive your sequencer program from the external
SYNC source. You're actually SYNC'ing the sequencer program to the recorder
when you lay down the extra tracks.
Bars & Pipes and Music-X are high powered sequencers that support external
sync functions.
I've not had any experience working with a multi-track recorder, so there
might be some holes in my explanation. (I'm able to satisfy my needs so far
without a multi-track recorder.) I'll check further into it for you if
you'll supply the Tascam model number.
David,
Thanks for the help. You gave me enough info to start some investigations
myself. If your interested its the Tascam Porta One Ministudio
I'm not sure what the model number is.
Actually — unless I misunderstand you (I'm still new at this) I
only have to create one "Starhawk" as a whole bunch of hierarchical
segments, then lay out a few "skeleton" motions and "spine" the
wing-tips, and set up a few key frames just to make certain
everything's moving the way I want it to; while Playmation supposedly
can do all kinds of morphing, there's no actual need to do so on this
type of figure (besides, even the best morphs I've ever seen tended
to look like one solid object "melting" into another solid object —
not that that implies that I've seen the best morphs ever).
The big problem I'm having right now is making all these
stuck-together segments not look quite so "stuck together"….
There's a WHOLE lot that the manual leaves unexplained (as if all the
typos aren't bad ENOUGH): At this point I don't know if the "joint"
effect can be solved by a "patch overlay", or if I need to use extra
segments in the joints…. Sigh….
You need the next release of Lightwave. It allows for "solid" single
objects to be manipulated with hierarchial skeletal deformation. Ie.,
make your bird (no rotational points or separate objects needed, make
it solid), then when in the layout mode, place and size the bones
necessary for the movement you desire. The bones are animated just
like objects and they move only what falls within there range of
influence.
Yeah, I've been hearing great things about the whole new Toaster
package, especially Lightwave…. I'll probably bite the bullet pretty
soon (oh, I didn't NEED that $3000 in my savings account anyway ;-)….
Problem is, I'm apparently going to have to drive from Chicago all the
way out to AURORA just to SEE one….
