Ana, I am a unix programmer at work, but at home I am a PC guy with a AMI 486DX2/66 VLB with 16meg (one 16meg simm with room for 3 more), an 877meg SCSI-2 hard drive, local bus SCSI-2 controller and local bus S3 805 graphics, Nec 4FG monitor, and a Toshiba XM-3401B CD in an 8bay tower case. The S3 805 board (made by NDI) works well with 3DS because it can use the 1024x768x256 mode for wireframe editing and 640x480x24bit for rendering. Thanks for the explanation of RGB->NTSC encoding. I think I will use onboard encoding for now and get the external encoder later if I need it. I talked to a video mailorder place and they said the Sony encoder for the EVO-9650 costs about $2K. Someone was telling me about the Matrox Professional Producer board. He said it is as good as the ATVista for about half the price. Have you heard anything about this board? I am tempted to sticke with the known quantity–Targa+–but the idea of getting much better quality at the same price from a company I've heard of before is appealing. Bailey
