False Rumours?
Mike,
If you have anti-lock brakes, chances are you will have an idiot light in
your dash that says ANTI-LOCK or something that will light up everytime you
start your car telling you that everything is OK. Also, when you brake
hard of slippery surfaces, you will feel a very strong pulsating feeling in
your brake pedals, this is the computer system pulsating the brakes to
prevent wheel lock. As I found out this weekend in our snow, Anti-locks
will not prevent slidding entirely. You will not stop any faster than if
you were to pulsate the wheels manually with your foot (well, not much
faster, since the computer can work faster than the human foot). The
advantage of Antilock is in slippery spots on the road, quick braking, etc
but not on ice or snow.
