Its a matter of shopping carefully, but a DX2-80 VLB with 8mb ram and a
graphics accelerator, 15" monitor, etc runs about $1300. I agree that the
software is bloated. W95 is expected to require a base 8mb to walk, and 16mb to
actually respond quickly.
W95 IS pre-emptive multitasking, but the Amiga did that years ago. The A1000
with only 256K could do multiple simple things. 512k held it for most needs.
2-3 mb is gobs of memory in an Amiga unless you're running some of the more
memory intensive applications.
