A few members reported that they had Thompsons (4122..does that sound
right?)…anyway, they said they had such fuzzy video that the scan lines
overlapped so they didn't have to worry about flicker.
You shouldn't have to tweak a monitor when you buy it, I have no idea
if tweaking will help the 1084, but guess it would. The 1084's main problem
is saturation, and tweaking can significantly improve saturation in almost
any monitor that looks washed out.
The 1902 and the 1080 were the same monitor, and I don't believe they
were built by Magnavox, the 1084 is a Magnavox monitor. Again, I've seen
Magnavox monitors in places like Best, they were priced about the same as the
1084 and looked horrible. Same with Samsung.
All that being said, I fully agree that the 1084 isn't my idea of a
super sharp monitor…I'd put it in the 'run of the mill' category, but then
it's price is in the same category. You get what you pay for..plain and
simple.
