I know that the 1902 was built by Magnavox – I've seen an open 1902, and
we used to stock a Magnavox model that looked exactly like the 1902.
It's hard to discuss this either way and back it up with facts is very
difficult – manufacturers seem to go through monitor models faster than some
printer manufacturers go through printer models!
And I would have to disagree – I think Commodore could have done
signifacantly better with their choice, even considering the price range.
