Jonathan, thanks for the advice. The country is Zimbabwe which has a fairly decent climate – high plains, a rainy season in our Fall, moderate temperatures. Drought, famine, disease, and politicians are bigger problems than the weather. What you say makes great sense to me. The user, however, feels that cheaper = better, so I bought a local (SF Bay area) no-name clone from some guys with a decent reputation. The user specifically requested a 386SX machine, so that's what I bought him. [Earnest throat-clearing.] Since this is my first honest job in a number of years, I'm trying to keep the customer happy: having warned him about price/reliability tradeoffs, I'll meet *his* price and performance specs. The computer is irrelevant to the real job anyway. Thanks again, Rob.
