re: "Handwriting on the wall" – I'm not sure myself what I was referring to in my previous message, but it probably had to do with the feeling that ALL other platforms are racing ahead with continual improvements to bothe their hardware platforms and software features, while Commodor flounders around, trying to figure out how to most effectively kill off what remains of their sales in North America. As for my thinking you were knocking the AMAX, my humble apologies. I was just rallying to the defense of a product that has worked well for me for years. I understand what it's like buying into hardware from a company that goes out of business. I didn't even know C Ltd. had folded. Since I am the proud owner of alot of equipment in standards that no longer exist, I know it is easy to get swayed by features and price alone w/o knowing what will happen a few years down te road. The Phoenix board is a plug-in replacement for your A1000 motherboard. It retails for $850 and has the following: 2MB CHIP RAM onboard, SCSI controller w/ RDB support, switch selectable OS ROMs, A2000 video slot (NOT Toaster compatible – at last report), 8MB RAM internal exp (optional), 68881/2 socket, ECS Super Denise upgrade also.
