Thanks, good arguments, however the majority of the people on this thread
don't have the immediate needs for the other 'features' offered by a high
end recorder.
The benefit of 24bit real-time playback is that you can use any recorder,
and not worry about the added expense of decks that offer SFR.
While good video recorders will continue to be important to the video
production industry for the next few years, the majority of animators will
probably soon find themselves outputting in digital format to avoid the
hazards of composite encoding.
I still stick to my guns, but I'll add a qualifier:
"(For most producers of animation,) SF recorders are going to be passe in
a few years."
