memory tweaking
Ron,
I have finally put Novell DOS 7 on the bridgeboard. It solves my
problem with the Hardcard 40 nicely. It has DOS Mode Protected Interface
(DPMI) in the EMM386 manager. DOS loads high. The task manager loads,
but I don't have enough memory to exercise it (perhaps I have an excuse to
upgrade the BB from 5 meg to 8 meg?). There is a virus protection program
that comes with it. The INSTALL and SETUP programs work nicely. Wordstar
7 came up rather fast compared to DRDOS 6. WordPerfect 6 for DOS works in
text and graphics mode. The cache (NWCACHE) is loaded. I left it in the
default write-through mode. Stacker has replaced my SuperStor Pro D:
drive. Incidently, the Stacker installation will not convert SuperStor
Pro drives although it will convert an earlier version.
Prior to installation of Novell 7, I spent some time moving files to
{|Y(t!{.get enough room and manually removing the SuperStor PRO drive. I also
disabled all Janus drives while installing since I had used a few to back i].up
files. (Foolish! I should have used regular diskettes just in case
