#OpalVision/24bit Boards
HI,
I've decided that even if no more Amigas are going to be made I can still
get a lot more out of my system. Instead of going for AGA I'm thinking of
getting a 24bit graphics board and I would like to hear any suggestions.
What I'm looking for is something which comes with a good paint program
and is fairly fast. It would also be nice to have the ability to grab
frames and output NTSC. Retargetable graphics would be nice but not
entirely necessary.
It seems to me that the best solution is the OpalVision Board, especially
for the price. It doesn't give me RTG but there seem to be a lot of
products that support it anyway.
I have a couple questions about OpalVision:
1. How fast is it compared to other boards? How good is the s/w? 2. Is
a 6 meg 3000T fast enough and have enough RAM to be useful? 3. Will
GigaMem work with it?
4. Is there any composite video out or would I have to go for
the video processor?
4. Is it possible to work on images that are larger than the
screen display?
5. Any other concerns?
I am also willing to consider the other video boards although my
impression is that OpalPaint is far superior than any other amiga product.
If you have any comments I would love to hear them.
