According to the initial information from Weitek, only the 5186 and
5286 VGA chips could be used on the P9000 boards. Thus, we check
this and didn't allow any other VGA chip to be used. A about 6
months ago, Diamond decided that that they wanted to use a differnt
kind of video memory (I think VRAM) because the other kind (DRAM) was
getting too expensive. The Weitek VGA didn't support it, so they put
an Oak VGA chip on the board. This, of course, prevented Vibrant's
drivers from working. Starting with 1.0.1, we use a Diamond BIOS call
to check the VGA Chip… if no result, we then check for the Weitek
5186/5286. The user just needs the updated drivers, which he is in
the process of doing.
