Rick,
I just looked through my matlib and found some non-scene specific
materials that might be of interest:
A reflection map that gives metals a "brushed" or scratched look.
Useful for de-sterilizing metalic scenes.
A trashed copper material.
An improved concrete tile, produces excelent sidewalk tiles.
A collection of "molten fire" materials, nifty on human forms.
A pitted wrought iron, allthough it needs fine tuning
Poured plaster, can be tweaked to produce a highly realistic and
useful powdered doughnut. <g>
"SP", an Escher-like design that makes skewed geometry look
non-euclidian.
Also, useful materials can be pulled out of the "Old City" mesh
that ships with the program, most notably steel.
If you or anyone else are interested in these let me know. We can
arrange some sort of transfer. I will go through my meshes and see if I
can find more to add to the list.
I am doing a computer graphics thesis at Simon's Rock College on 3D
studio, concentrating on art as opposed to business images. I would be
highly interested in any unusual materials that you have to offer. I
personaly have a large collection of oddball materials and could provide a
list of these if you are interested.
Thanks,
Jason Kirtland
